Both guests in a cabin must purchase beverage packages BOTH occupants of the stateroom HAVING to buy the packages is reasonable for fair. There are couples where one or the other does not drink and that should not require a non drinker to pay for this package.

    • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

Hi Thomas, thank you for your feedback on our beverage packages. We value your opinion and will certainly take it into consideration.

  • NKy586

I agree with the previous poster.  I have purchased a similar package on other lines and it is a great convenience.  However, it does not make sense to require both guests in a cabin to purchase the package and this will discourage me from doing so on my upcoming cruise.

  • Judi

I agree that it is not fair that both parties must buy the alcohol package.  We are considering a cruise with another couple and one spouse does not drink.  We have cruised on other lines and one spouse was allowed to purchase the package.  Certainly your bartenders and waiters could tell if someone was “cheating” by sharing a drink.

  • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

We appreciate all of your feedback and completely understand your concerns. We have found that requiring both occupants to purchase the package is the best way to eliminate confusion. If you have individual concerns you would like considered or if you would like to further address this issue, please contact us at  guestrelations@windstarcruises.com.

Once again, thank you for expressing your thoughts with us – it is very important to us to get candid feedback from our guests.

    • NKy586

Confusion?  How would only one person in a cabin having a package cause confusion?  Guest 1: Order drink, show card with designation on it, don’t charge to shipboard account, or  Guest 2: Order drink, show card with no designation on it, charge to shipboard account.  Works pretty well on other lines.

What happens if you have two couples sailing together and only one couple has a package.  Is that going to cause “confusion” when they place an order at one time?

      • Disinmaine

It seems that it would be very easy for people whonare not honest, to cheat in their cabin. Perhaps that is also why you may noy buy a bottle of wine, only wine by the glass. Maybe Windstar should have an all inclusive price for the entire trip? That way all would be happy! There are always people who think they can beat the system, and then a tually all the others lose!!! Windstar is a great cruise line…..I am sure they will work it all out!

        • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

          Hi There,

Thank you very much for your suggestion! We appreciate your input and will certainly take it into consideration when we evaluate our policies. Take care and we hope to see you with us again soon!

Really like the laundry package, but the drink packages are just too expensive. Hubby and I are fairly “avid” drinkers when on vacation, and our bar tab usually come in between $200-350.  With this package, it’d be nearly $870 (with tip).  Craziness.  We couldn’t drink enough to make it worth the expense.

We’re currently booked on a 12-day Regent Seven Seas sailing (all inclusive: air/hotel/transfers/premium alcohols/soft drinks/gratuities/excursions), and even though the fare is twice that of 7-day Windstar sailing, because of the all-inclusiveness and the length of the cruise, the price per day is coming in at about half what we’d spend on a Windstar cruise.  Really want to do another couple of Windstar cruises soon (Malta-Athens and Athens-Istanbul are screaming out to me), but can’t afford all the extra costs.

Option 1 seems good value. Btw what happens to half finished bottles of wine?

    • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

Thanks for your reply. Wine and champagne selections are based on wine by the glass up to $11.50 per glass.

      Hope this helps!

    • Stan

On a 7 day cruise, is the package charged for 7 days or 6 days (since there are actually six days of cursing)?

    • Joan

Are there two separate packages – a wine package and a premium beverage package? If so, what is the cost of the wine package? I drink only wine and my husband drinks wine and cocktails?

      • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

        Hi Joan,

There is only one beverage package available and it includes both wine and spirits and both people in the cabin must purchase the package. You always have the option to purchase drinks individually, but if you opt for the package it is $48 per person per day and includes:
        • Unlimited premium cocktails
        • Unlimited wine by the glass from the per glass
        wine menu
        • Unlimited house champagne, beer and soft drinks
        • Includes mini-bar beverage selections
        • Includes beverages provided through room-service

  • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

Thanks for your interest! We don’t have a published list of alcohol prices, since our selection can vary. To give you and idea of our pricing onboard, beers range between $5-$8, and most standard liquors are between $6-$8. Wines range from $7.50 to $15.50 by the glass. We are more than happy to check on any specific liquors or wines for you, if you would like us to!

    Best,

    The Windstar Team

  • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

If you see a cruise on our website listed as 7 days, it means you are onboard for seven nights, and actually disembark on the 8th day. Therefore, for sailings listed as seven days, both our beverage and laundry packages are charged for seven days.

We hope that helps, and thank you for your interest in Windstar Cruises!

  • Jeannie

Can you give me some idea of what your wines by the glass are?  I only drink wine and am a little picky about it.  I’d hate to buy the package and then not like the wines.

  • Brenda Audino

Please let me know if the wine package only includes the by the glass or does it also apply to wine bottles.  What about ultra premium wines, is there a discount taken for these higher priced bottles?

    • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

      Brenda,

Our Premium Beverage Package includes unlimited glasses of wine from our per glass menu. While bottles purchased on board are not included on our beverage package, you may feel free to bring bottles of your own which you can drink in your stateroom at no cost or in the dining room for a $15 corkage fee. A discounted rate is taken on premium liquor but not wine bottles purchased on board.

are there directions, busses, from the air port on Oslo. i.e. how do we get to the ship if we purchASED OUR AIR TICKETS SEPARATELY?

    • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

Hi Alan, soft drinks have been included in the cruise fare since last December so you are all set! As far as getting to the ship from the airport, we sell transfers to make the trip quick and easy. Please call your travel agent or our Vacation Planners at 800.258.7245 and they can run through the options with you. See you shortly!

We are sailing on Wind Spirit for the first time on October 6th. Will you send me pictures of the staterooms. Also, is there a sundry shop on the boat for t-shirts, sun tan lotion, etc.? We are bringing one bag each but are traveling to other destinations after the cruise. How much closet space is available?

    • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

      Hi Joan,

There is a gift shop on the Wind Spirit where you can purchase these items. There is plenty of closet space in your stateroom even if you bring several bags per person! You will each have your own hanging space and multiple drawers to store your clothing and other items.

  • Perry

Quick question: What is Windstar’s house champagne?

    • http://www.windstarcruises.com/blog Windstar Cruises

Hi Perry, it is typically Pol Clément Brut from France.

Personally we love the new drink package – all of us cruising through the Panama Canal found it to be the only way to travel and not worry about costs – you knew what the bar bill was going to be day one. And all of us will again book this upon arrival in just a few months touring Portugal and Spain. I love this option, so thanks!

  • http://www.facebook.com/robert.wasserman.37 Robert Wasserman

I noticed your wine and alcohol prices are from a year ago. Would you be able to share more recent prices? We are going on a cruise with you in March. Thanks.

  • skibums

Hello Windstar Team. We are booked to depart with Windstar from Venice on May 13, 2013. Our itinerary says 6:00pm. Is that what time we should plan to be at the dock? Or is that what time the boat leaves the dock, and we should plan on being there a few hours earlier. Also, where IS the dock in Venice? Thanks

  • N Moss

What are the types of drinks the package covers? Are specialty coffee drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos included normally, or is there an extra charge and they are covered in the drinks package?

  • http://www.facebook.com/paula.nygaard Paula Nygaard

What should I pack for evening dining? I don’t want to underdress….or overdress.

  • Angela

We will be taking the Venice-Rome cruise in May, and I am curious what traditionally the seas are like that time of year–are they rough or generally pretty calm?

    • http://blog.windstarcruises.com Windstar Cruises

      Hi Angela,
In May it’s started to warm up, and the seas are typically calm. We look forward to having you onboard!

What is the cost of a premium drink or the price for a beer.

  • Bob

How far is the Wind Surf departure dock from the airport in St. Maarten, and what should a cab cost to get there?

  • Bob

Is there a shuttle that get’s you from the airport to the boat (and from the boat to the airport) in St. Maarten?

  • Barb Esbaugh

Can you please post the updated Beverage Package. I am trying to book and it is saying it is $800 per person.

  • Jan Wagner

Please update me on the current beverage package prices. I am traveling alone. And is there a limit to the number of bottles of wine that can be brought onboard?
