The ancient remains of Athens constitute one of the brightest jewels of the Mediterranean. The Ancient City and the Acropolis have been kept fairly intact. You will see perhaps the most famous temple of the Ancient City, the Parthenon, dedicated to the patron Goddess of Athens, Athena. Walking up a winding path towards the Acropolis, you pass through the Propylaea, which is the entrance to the Acropolis and see the Erechtheum Temple, built between 421-405 B.C. and famous for its exquisite attention to detail. You will also see the Porch of the Caryatids, (or Porch of the Maidens), in the distance. Reinforced by man, the natural fortress of the Acropolis stands 230 feet above the city. You cannot help but be impressed by the wide-sweeping view below. The intent of the New Acropolis Museum is to house every artifact found on the archaeological site. You will have the opportunity to discover for yourself the unsurpassed quality of the masterpieces of Ancient Athens which have long fascinated western civilization, including the entire sculpted decoration of the Parthenon as it was on the ancient building. Castle & Mausoleum
After a short bus ride, you will arrive at the Castle of Bodrum, where you will view its five towers. Next, you will walk to the Mausoleum, which is Bodrum's oldest antiquity and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, built by Artemisia II in honor of her husband King Mausolos. Ephesus and Virgin Marys House
Take a step back in time on this excursion to the Virgin Mary’s House and ancient Ephesus.
A 30-minute drive brings you to the House of the Virgin Mary, where she is said to have lived the last years of her life. It was rediscovered in the late 19th century based on the vision of a German nun. This hallowed site, which has been officially declared a Roman Catholic shrine, has hosted three Papal visits since 1967.
Back aboard the coach, you take a 10-minute drive to Ephesus, where your exploration begins with the Odeon Theatre and next you will proceed to the Celsus Library and Hadrian Temple. This impressive Corinthian-style temple was was dedicated in 118 A.D. and reconstructed in the 4th century. Among the many impressive reliefs adorning its porch is a Medusa head that the Ephesians believed would protect the city from its enemies.
Next you will see the Great Theatre, dating back to the Hellenistic period. During the the 1st century A.D. it was reconstructed and expanded by the Romans to a seating capacity of 25,000. It was at this monumental site that St. Paul preached. As its acoustics remain excellent, this theatre is still in use today. The Marble Road which runs between the Theater and the Celsus Library is part of a sacred walkway.
On your return from Ephesus, you sip apple tea as a myriad of colors unfold before your eyes during a carpet-making demonstration. Alternatively, you may return directly to the yacht, or remain in Kusadasi to shop or explore the town independently.

Mykonos, Greece
|
Delos Discovery
Explore the tiny uninhabited island of Delos, one of the most important archaeological sites in all Greece.
Start your journey from Mykonos with 45-minute ferry ride to this richly historic site. Delos was the major religious and commercial center of the ancient Greek world and the mythical birthplace of the god Apollo and his twin sister Artemis. The remains of its once-magnificent temples, shrines and sanctuaries make it reminiscent of a large open-air museum. Your 2½-hour guided stroll includes such attractions as the Sanctuary of Apollo with its three temples dating from the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. To the west of this sanctuary lies the Sacred Lake, where Apollo was reputedly born. Standing guard over the Sacred Lake are nine replicas of the famous marble lions, which were a gift from the people of Naxos in the 7th century B.C. Other attractions include the amphitheater and the nearby theater quarter where wealthy owners built opulent houses with grand colonnaded courtyards.
The island’s chequered history finally led to its destruction in 88 B.C. by Mithridates, the King of Pontus. Large-scale restoration work has continued for many years and in 1990 the island was declared a World’s Cultural Heritage Site, protected by UNESCO.
Your guided walk through centuries of history concludes back at the ferry, for the direct return to Mykonos. On arrival there, you are free to return to the yacht’s tender pier at your leisure.

Old Rhodes on Foot
Take a leisurely stroll through the medieval city of Rhodes, an historically-acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your approximately three-hour guided walk begins at the Gate of Panagia Bourgou and proceeds directly to the Jewish Quarter. After passing the Synagogue, you progress further into the city center before continuing along the picturesque cobbled streets of the busy Turkish District. Your attention is drawn to the Mosque of Suleiman, with its elegant Italian Renaissance doorway.
You then head toward the 14th-century Palace of the Grand Masters. This imposing structure stands in the northwest corner of the ramparts and is more reminiscent of a fortress than a palace. Its chequered history includes being converted into a prison by the Turks, suffering damage in an explosion and finally being restored by the Italians. The main building surrounds a central court, paved with colorful marbles and superb Hellenistic and Roman mosaics from neighboring islands.
After leaving the Palace, you continue down the Street of the Knights, past medieval buildings, towers and emblazoned façades. The Knights of the Order of St. John once lived in these 15th and 16th century Gothic buildings. Your walk concludes in Hospital Square, from where there is a short stroll back to the port. Alternatively you may wish to spend additional independent time among the numerous cafés, restaurants and shops of the medieval town before returning at your leisure.

The Ancient City of Akrotiri & Nomikos Museum
In prehistoric times, the people who inhabited what today is known as Santorini, called the island Strongyle ("round"). These people enjoyed a high standard of living; they built two-story houses, tilled the earth and were skilled artists, recognizing the beauty of color. Around 1650 BC, a volcanic eruption caused the center of Strongyle to sink, leaving a caldera with high cliffs – one of the world’s most dramatic geological sights.
You will be transferred from the ship by local tender boat to Athinios port, where you will join the waiting motor coach. From here you will proceed towards the southern part of the island where you will visit the ruins of the famous windmill for a short photo stop. Here you will have the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic view and capture amazing photos.
Further along you will be dropped off in the village of Akrotiri to have a short visit and walk around the village. Leaving here you will proceed to visit the famous antiquities at Akrotiri. There you will be taken back in time when you see these amazing ruins leaving you to imagine what life was like before the village was destroyed around 1650 BC, by the eruption of the volcano of Thira. The one question you might ask yourself here is why there were no people left in the village at the time of the eruption, as it was abandoned for reasons unknown.
You will see buildings that were once two storied, city squares, shops and working areas. This appeared to have been a busy bustling area before the eruption. Some of the most famous Greek frescoes can be found in what is left of the once prominent and disposing homes. Some of the frescoes are also on display at the Pre-historical Museum in Fira town. It is often said in a whimsical way that perhaps Akrotiri is really the lost city of Atlantis.
After boarding your coaches you will be transferred to Fira town where after a short walk you will be taken to the Nomikos Museum. Here you will have a chance to see the amazing collection Fresco paintings which are one of the most important discoveries in art history in recent years. This complete set of reproductions was first presented in Greece during the 1st International Symposium on the Wall Paintings of Thera in 1997. Since then, the exhibition has been open to the public each year, attracting an important number of visitors.
