Hiking Corcovado National Park
The rich biological diversity of Corcovado National Park is outstanding. You will take a 20-minute boat ride to San Pedrillo Ranger Station, at the entrance to this renowned park. En route keep watch for dolphins and other marine life before passing the nesting spot for the brown booby. There is a wet landing on arrival so bring suitable footwear for both this and your hike through the park. A personable naturalist guide will lead you on a 2-hour hike through primary and secondary rainforest while pointing out the abundant wildlife and flora. This area nurtures four types of monkey as well as coatis, sloths, and anteaters. Keep watch for spectacular scarlet macaws, toucans, and a wide variety of avian species. Soon the blue waters of the Pacific will beckon you to take a refreshing dip and enjoy fresh fruit and other refreshments. Return to the ship by boat after a morning of sheer delights.

Horseback Riding to the Last Frontier

Horses are available for the experienced and novice rider alike, as you spend 3 ½ hours exploring the beaches, rivers, 9 feet waterfall and tropical rainforest of the area, spotting birds and wildlife with your naturalist guide. Marine Wildlife Safari
Cruise to the Osa Peninsula, where migrations from both the northern and southern hemispheres endow this region with the longest humpback whale season in the world! Your adventure will begin when you board the boat and soon you head off to Drake Bay, in search of humpback whales, spotted, and bottlenose dolphins. Other sightings may include manta rays, numerous turtle species, large schools of tuna, and an occasional marlin or sailfish. Your Marine Wildlife Safari adventure is enhanced throughout by the informative commentary of a naturalist guide who will describe the biology, behavior and habits of the various wildlife species. Golfito National Wildlife Refuge Nature Walk
Follow a professional guide through one of Costa Rica’s most famous national parks. The spectacular natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere attract many visitors to Golfo Dulce annually. Explore a park that is home to numerous species of butterflies, monkeys, reptiles, and orchids. The National Wildlife Refuge of Golfito has special characteristics. The area around Golfito is ideal for scientific research and the refuge was created in 1945 by the Banana Company of Costa Rica who later passed it on to the Costa Rican government in 1984. The Wildlife Refuge of Golfito provides a home to more than 125 species of trees, including four that are in danger of extinction such as: the Peltogyne Purpurea, the Tachigalia Versicolor, the Butternut, and the M.Guianensis. There are 11 species of heliconias, 31 species of orchids, and more than 12 species of ferns. Four species of monkeys also live here, along with 300 species of birds (120% more than found in North America), 139 mammal species, and more than 200 species of amphibians and reptiles.

Golfo Dulce Rescue Center & Gardens
From the main pier, you will travel by boat through Golfo Dulce with a great view of some of the most intense rainforest landscapes found in the world. The green-blue landscape is beyond any description. There are occasions when a red bright spot comes into the picture and you will be astonished with the scarlet macaws and their noisy freedom! After a wet landing, you will arrive at the Rescue Center and be welcomed by Carol and her two babies, Sweetie and Winkie, two juvenile spider monkeys who will accompany you throughout your visit as you see tayra, the sloths, and macaws. Osa Wildlife Sanctuary is committed to providing wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and the release of orphaned, injured, or displaced animals indigenous to the Southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica. After this gratifying experience a visit follows to Casa Orquideas, a beautiful garden that contains all sorts of tropical plants and plant species brought from all over the world. There will be so much to learn while you visit the medicinal gardens and indulge your senses with the beauty and perfume of the enormous amount of flowers in so many different colors and shapes. Casa Orquideas is considered by many bird watchers to be one of the best sites in the area to spot beautiful birds such as toucans, aracaris, tanagers, honey creepers, manikins, and many more.

Mangrove & Golfo Dulce Kayaking
Go across Golfo Dulce where life goes in a slow pace through mangroves humidity and the squeaking sounds of the unique scarlet macaws that mingle in this area as the most common birds... Your kayak guides will be waiting for you at the put in area with your kayaks and paddles ready for you to go into this fun experience!
Once instructions are given and equipment is set you’ll be paddling bordering the surf all the way until you arrive at a little Pelican Island and moist area. Here you might be able to observe the spectacular Caimans as well as several aquatic bird species.
After enjoying this beautiful sanctuary get back on your kayak and continue paddling on the Golfo Dulce until you get to the mangroves forest, even though wildlife observation is not guaranteed, you’ll be able to see several bird species, crabs and when lucky white faced monkeys raccoons and other mammals.
Paddling by the mangroves you get to the Beach where your guides will serve you some water and Iced Tea, fresh season fruits (pineapple, Water, Melon) to keep up your energy for the paddle back to the Ship!

Manuel Antonio National Park Nature Walk
Manuel Antonio National Park is considered the most beautiful of all Costa Rica’s many national parks.
A scenic drive of 30 minutes brings you to the entrance of this magnificent tropical rain forest ecosystem. A knowledgeable naturalist tour guide then leads you along small trails past verdant flora as you look for agile monkeys and rainbow-hued tropical birds. The trail is well maintained and along an easy- walking level surface. As this forest kisses the sea, within 90 minutes you reach the warm waters of the Pacific, where there’s time for a refreshing swim. Another hour’s leisurely walk brings you to the park exit as you continue past abundant flora and fauna. Back aboard the coach, you return directly to the tender pier or take an optional dropoff in the town of Quepos.

Mangrove & Wildlife Boat Cruise
A ride through the mangroves is like visiting a place of another world. The species of trees that grow in the mix waters of the ocean and the river make a unique and very fragile ecosystem. Most of these trees grow along the estuary, developing an aerial root system, as the tide goes down the roots become suspended in the air and creating a perfect place for crabs and crocodiles. In the upper part of the forest you will see monkeys and a great variety of birds including herons, egrets, spoonbills among others. Our private vans will take us in only 25 minutes from the pier to the take in point, where our launch will cross us to a private property for refreshments. Our naturalist tour guide will acquaint us with all the knowledge of the mangroves, an ecosystem extremely important and which is not widely known. Our shaded boat will then take us deepl into the mangrove, as we will try to spot all the incredible wildlife that makes their home here. After a two hour boat ride we will arrive at the village where our vans will be waiting to drive back to the ship (approximately 30-minute drive).
An optional drop off in the town of Quepos is also available, where you will find several restaurants and shops.

Rainforest Horseback Getaway
After a 40-minutes ride passing by the town of Quepos and oil palm plantations, you will arrive to the farm where the horses will be ready for you. After a few minutes of instructions and saddling up the horses, your journey will start, crossing the rain forest and always keeping an eye out for monkeys or birds this forest shelters. The expert naturalist guides will be with you, sharing all their knowledge about the local medicinal plants that grow wild in the forest.

Savegre River Float Adventure

Sport Fishing
For those who love to fish, Quepos is an excellent option. Unlike Northern Costa Rica, Quepos is protected from the winter winds and is considered one of the top fishing destinations in the World.
After approximately 45-minutes of sailing to the southwest (20-25 miles off shore) the boat will arrive to the deep-sea area that is special for catching Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna & Mahi-Mahi. For the best and easiest fishing the bait that will be used is either Moli or Balihu.
