The cosmopolitan capital of Catalonia, exuberant Barcelona celebrates the surreal work of Antoni Gaudí, the artistry of Picasso, and the pure joy and color of Catalan life. Don’t miss the city’s amazingly well-preserved Gothic center with its winding maze of narrow byways. Or wander down to La Fusta Wharf, a promenade near the Old Port where you’ll find a tempting array of excellent restaurants, cafés, and bars.
This is the largest fishing port on the French Mediterranean coast. Take advantage of our full day here to treat yourself to an exceptional seafood dinner. The galleries here are worth seeing — from the Paul Valery Museum on Mont St. Clair to the Regional Centre for Contemporary Art and the International Museum of Poor Art. A special treat is to travel the city’s picturesque canals by boat.
This morning treat yourself to some beach time in what is most likely the sunniest place in France. The unique setting, swept by the Mistral from the Rhone Valley, creates a sky of surprisingly deep blue. The beautiful coastline is sprinkled with enchanting, hidden beaches.
Glide into a port boasting one of Europe’s most impressive collections of private yachts. Your optional tour follows the route of the renowned Grand Prix to Monaco’s most famous and prestigious landmark, the Grand Casino. You’ll lose your breath as the panoramic views of this tiny principality surround you and stand in awe as you visit the resting places of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III . Another must see option is the lovely village of Eze, called "Eagle’s Nest" because of its cliff-top perch.
With its golden ochre and terracotta buildings, designer shops, and chic cafés, Portofino represents the height of Italian artistry and sophistication. Sip a cappuccino along the fabled marina or enjoy a day of shopping in one of the town’s tempting little boutiques. As you look out over the harbor from the famous Hotel Splendido, it’s hard not to admire the sleek, streamlined beauty of your Windstar yacht.
Even after four centuries, this walled town on the island of Elba retains much of its Renaissance charm. Visit the Lunguella Fortress Museum to view the collection of Etruscan amphorae and Villa San Martino to see the elegant furniture, library, and other treasures left behind from Napoleon’s brief stay here.
Prepare to engage in la dolce vita. Extend your stay in the Eternal City to take in famous sights such as the Vatican City and the culinary delights that Rome is also famous for. Windstar’s landmark hotels are perfectly located for your excursions. Grand Hotel de la Minerve welcomes you to luxury in the very center of Rome, immediately across the street from the Pantheon itself. The Ambasciatori Palace Hotel, on one of Rome’s most famous and stylish streets, Via Veneto, features beautiful historic detail and furnishings.
