Star Legend makes its debut

Windstar is in the midst of a tremendous growth period, and as we continue to grow, we look for additional capacity. Earlier this week at a christening ceremony in Rome, Italy, we were delighted to debut Star Legend, the third and final of the fleet’s three new all suite power yachts.

The christening ceremony and pier-side champagne celebration marked the luxury yacht’s introduction to the Windstar fleet, and the start of its inaugural voyage through Italy, France, and Spain. Gloria Bohan, president and CEO of Omega World Travel and Cruise.com, was honored as godmother, successfully breaking a traditional bottle of champagne over the bow in front of a crowd of guests and trade partners.

The pierside celebration featured local Italian entertainment such as folk dancers, stilt walkers, and an artist capturing the scene.

The debut of Star Legend comes on the heels of the launch of sister yacht, Star Breeze, which was christened May 6, 2015, in Nice, France by Godmother (and fellow female travel influencer) Wendy Perrin.
Both yachts hold 212 passengers at double occupancy.
As you may remember, in 2014 we had one new power yacht join our fleet, Star Pride. With the three new power yachts, this brings our total fleet to six yachts and 1,242 berths. This has all been accomplished while keeping our ships small – with less than 300 guests aboard each. Also, the new yachts are allowing us to sail to more destinations than ever before. New sailings in 2015 and 2016 include year-round sailings in Tahiti, sailings in Iceland and Northern Europe, eight new itineraries in the Caribbean, and increased sailings in Panama and Costa Rica.
It’s an exciting time for Windstar, and we hope you can join us on one of our new vessels!
