Day 1 (L,D)
You will be met by your guide at the Beijing Airport and transferred to the Temple of Heaven. This tranquil park will provide you with an authentic look into local life in this city. The grounds consist of a sequence of buildings and altars set in beautiful groves of cypress trees. Then you will lunch at a local Chinese restaurant. In the afternoon you will head to the Forbidden City, where the 9,999 rooms were completed in 1420 and was home to 14 emperors. You will learn why these 170 acres were forbidden to common people as you stroll through some of the best-preserved classical Chinese architecture. Then it’s on to Tiananmen Square measuring over 109 acres. You will walk from the southernmost part of the square all the way down its length, passing several monuments including the mausoleum that houses Chairman Mao’s remains. Then you will be transferred to your hotel. For dinner your will be transferred to a restaurant in the city to experience a delicious dinner. Overnight at your China World Hotel.
Day 2 (B,L)
Beijing to Xian
After breakfast you will meet your guide in the lobby for a drive to the Great Wall, the longest man-made structure in the world. You will explore the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall which was first begun in 550. You will walk this 1.5-mile stretch of the Wall visiting 22 watchtowers. Located at the foot of the Great Wall, The Brickyard is a sustainable tourism project where you will have a western-menu lunch of fresh, locally produced and seasonal ingredients. You will transfer to the airport for your flight (included) to Xian. Upon arrival you will meet your guide and transfer to your Gran Melia Xian Hotel. Dinner and the evening are on your own.
Day 3 (B,L)
Xian to Beijing
Following breakfast you will meet your guide and transfer to visit the Terracotta Warriors, one of the world’s greatest archaeological finds that were discovered in 1974. These sculptures were made to accompany China’s first emperor to the afterlife over 2,100 years ago. Following this tour you will visit the Xian City Walls, dating back to the 2nd century B.C. when Xian was the capital of China. They are almost 7 miles long and still surrounded by a deep moat. You will have a leisurely walk to appreciate the spectacular views and rich history of this ancient structure. Lunch will be at a local Chinese restaurant and in the late afternoon you will fly back to Beijing (included) where your guide will meet you and transfer you back to the China World Hotel. Dinner and the evening are on your own.
Day 4 (B)
Beijing to Tianjin Port
Following breakfast you will have some leisure time before your transfer to Tianjin Port to begin your cruise.
Bring your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent and comfortable walking shoes. When visiting the temples shoulders and legs must be covered and no shorts will be allowed. This tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for people with mobility issues.
