Mountravers Estate was once a sugar plantation in the 18th century and was converted to a boutique hotel in the 19th century. It was owned in 1708 by Azariah Pinney (after whom Pinneys Beach is named) and by the successive generations of the Pinney family until it was sold in 1815. The Indian River is like a mini Amazon teeming with life – situated in the center of the town of Portsmouth to the North of Dominica. The river was name Indian River after the settlements of the Kalinago formally known as Carib Indians who existed on the upper banks of the River. The Indian River showcases flora and fauna that are very unique to this area of Dominica, some of this variants including heron, kingfishers, iguanas, and a variety of birds. Roseau, Whale & Dolphin Adventure
You will board a 60-foot catamaran and hear a briefing on your tour, some history of the area, what to look for as you travel, what species live in these waters and their behavior patterns. There are no guarantees what animals you may or may not see but you will be in natural habitat for whales and dolphins.  You will cruise for 3.5 hours along the west coast of Dominica, 2-8 miles off shore as you search for wildlife. Periodically the boat will stop and hydrophones will be put into the water. This is done to listen for the rhythmic clicking of Sperm Whales, the pinging of Pilot Whales, the whistling of Dolphins, or the singing of Humpbacks. During this period you will hear educational commentary as well. Most commonly seen animals are: Sperm, Pilot, False Killer Whales, Spotted, Spinner, and Bottle Nose Dolphins. The minimum distance for approaching these animals is 160 feet. There is no in-water activity. This is a calving area and the welfare of these animals is of primary concern.  Refreshments and local snacks will be served on the way back to port.

Ascending through the middle layer of the rainforest you will enjoy the fauna and flora.  The Aerial Tram Tour will transport you up and away from the heat and bustle of the lowlands to an ecological park located in the heights of St Lucia’s forest reserve.  Sixteen open-air gondolas ascend noiselessly through the rainforest, offering you a magical view of nature in its majesty – towering gommiers, impressive chatanniers, and the remarkable phenomenon of the strangler ficus, alighted upon by playful hummingbirds and banana quits.  An experienced Nature Interpreter will point out giant ferns and magnificent heliconia, and identify the calls and the plumage of the birdlife that makes the Caribbean Oceanic forest its home.  The descent will afford you a bird’s eye view of the forest and a spectacular panoramic vista of the north of the island.  With much to see and listen for, the tram ride will be a celebration of color and life and a restorative retreat guaranteed to refresh the senses.   

Please note:  Depending on traffic, the drive to the tram is about 40 minutes, and persons prone to motion sickness are asked to take the necessary precautions prior to the tour. Departing Pigeon Island you will pass by the Cap Estate golf course before arriving at Cas En Bas beach for the start of your adventure.  Hike up through the hills of Cas En Bas, along the northeastern coastline, allowing you to enjoy unbelievable scenery from beginning to end.  Feel the fresh cool breeze of the Atlantic Ocean and see the waves crash against the cliffs below.  A hike like no other, this adventure will take you through cactus valley and up to the peninsula, for a chance to see the neighboring island of Martinique on a clear day and the wild horses roaming on the hillside.  On your return to Cas En Bas beach, a cool refreshing drink awaits you at Majorie’s Bar. You can't come to St. Lucia without seeing the Pitons! Captain for a Day tour is the most exciting way to get to Soufriere and see the incredible Pitons. Take a short tender ride and board your 17’ Atomix speed boat and drive yourself and your partner or guest, for a scenic cruise along the picturesque West Coast to the town of Soufriere. Circle the Soufriere Bay and learn the history of the town of Soufriere and about the history of the Caribbean's only drive-in volcano.  Depart the Soufriere Bay and head up the coast past the fishing village of Canaries with a brief stop.  The next stop is at Anse Cochon, where you can take a refreshing dip, relax or snorkel. Take a quick detour into the scenic Marigot Bay for photos, then continue up the coast back to Rodney Bay for your bus transfer back to the port.

Pigeon Island, Rainforest Canopy Zip Line Adventure
Take a bird’s-eye-view of rainforest bird and plant life as you soar high above the ground on this zip line adventure.   You will enjoy a one-hour journey along a somewhat winding road toward Dennery Fishing Village. Soon you reach the Zip Line Welcome Center in the heart of the rainforest. After a safety briefing you will be on your way along 4,000 feet of cables suspended between platforms. There are also two net bridges that provide access between platforms. The fully integrated system of cables and rigging is carefully designed to deliver a thrill all under safe conditions. Although this ride does not demand physical ability, the adrenaline rush is one you’ll long remember.

Please note:  You should wear tops with sleeves and avoid very brief shorts. Long hair must be pinned up and shoes should be well secured to your feet. Some step-climbing is involved. You will be required to sign a waiver to participate on this tour. Weight limit is 250 lbs.

St. Barts: Yellow Semi-Sub Exploration
All aboard a semi-submersible to discover the rich undersea life surrounding St. Barts, without even getting wet! After boarding, you may choose to either stay outside on the open deck or enter the tunnel-like hull equipped with underwater windows. At the harbor’s entrance, keep watch for the many green turtles that frequent this area. Soon, the semi-sub passes over the wreck of the island freighter Marignan. Cross the southeastern edge of the St. Barts Marine Park and arrays of undersea marvels will soon be revealed before your eyes. The seabed is full of colorful coral reefs, and schools of Sergeant Major Fish. On your arrival at The Saints, the onboard crew will feed schools of fish. Don’t be surprised if seemingly hundreds of fish almost push against your window. You may even glimpse a shark or two! After approximately 10 minutes, your semi-sub heads back to the pier. You will continue past famous Orient Beach, well known for its clothing optional beach, past Grand Case, the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean, on your way to Marigot, capitol of the French side. Marigot is best known for its seaside, open-air market, where you can find truly charming souvenirs of your Caribbean vacation. If you are “shopped out”, try one of the French cafés right next door, for a café au lait with a croissant.  Upon leaving Marigot, you will make one more photo stop on Cay Hill, from where you have a wonderful view over Simpson Bay Lagoon.  Our last stop will be Philipsburg, capital of the Dutch side, best known for its jewelry-, electronics-, and high end clothing stores. On the Boardwalk you will find quaint restaurants for a quick bite to eat before your flight and an excellent photo opportunity of your yacht lying in Philipsburg Harbor. From there, you will be taken straight to your Windstar Hotel

Board an air-conditioned vehicle for a 15-minute ride to Rockland Estate where the most breathtaking, awe-inspiring, 360 degree views await you. After check-in and signing a waiver, you will first visit the Emilio Wilson Museum, which is located in the restored plantation house originally built in the 1700s. You will be on your own to browse the museum which tells the powerful story of Trace Wilson, who was born into slavery on the property in 1818 and her direct descendant Emilio Wilson. You will see depictions of what life was like on a Caribbean plantation and learn about the customs, traditions, lifestyle and stories that earned Sint Maarten the nickname ‘The Friendly Island.' As the Soualiga Sky Explorer ascends, you will experience the landscape unfolding below until you reach the top of St. Maarten’s highest mountain, an elevation of 1,125 feet. From here you will have a 360-degree spectacular view over the island, as well as over neighboring islands, Saba, St. Barth, St. Eustatius and Anguilla. This chair lift spans 2,997 ft, so enjoy your leisurely ride over the vegetation below. St. Maarten: Under Two Flags Island Tour
The best way to see the "friendly" island of St. Maarten/St. Martin, the smallest island shared between two nations, is to take the Under Two Flags Island Tour. You will depart Philipsburg Port and will be driven to beautiful Oyster Pond, to cross the border to the French side, and follow along Coralita Road to the first stop of your tour. There, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a picturesque lookout point over the impressive Atlantic coast and the islands of Tintamarre and St Bart’s. After a short stop, drive through Quartier d'Orléans, better known as French Quarter, past well known Orient Beach and Grand Case, culinary capital of the Caribbean, before arriving in Marigot, capital of the French side. Here you will have time to visit the outdoor seaside market, where among Caribbean souvenirs, local art work and hand-made jewelry, products from Provence, France, can also be found. The West Indies Mall with its French boutiques is just around the corner. Leaving Marigot behind, stop at Cay Hill Lookout Point for another photo op overlooking Simpson Bay Lagoon, one of the largest lagoons in the West Indies, and the blue waters of the Caribbean. Then, for the last stop, you will be dropped off in Philipsburg for some more shopping on Front Street or a nice stroll along the Boardwalk before returning to the Port.
