Leaving the pier by motorcoach, you will head to the city on a panoramic drive towards the main venues before getting to the bike shop. Be outfitted and get a briefing before heading out to explore Valencia's old & new. Passing the Turia Gardens and heading towards the Serrano Bridge and Towers the main entrance for the old wall part of Valencia. Inside you will be seeing the Cathedral and Plaza de la Reina, the narrow streets of the Old Town and the Central Market, an enormous metal, ceramic tile and glass Art Nouveau building built in 1928, with its 1,300 stalls of fresh fish, meat and fruits, selling products from all over Spain. Then see the spectacular façade of the Silk Exchange, a late Valencian Gothic style civil building which dramatically illustrates the power and wealth of one of the great Mediterranean mercantile cities. It was built between 1482 and 1548, and declared an UNESCO site in 1996; nowadays it is one of the principal tourist attractions in the city. Then you will cross the "De la Mar" Bridge, heading to the "City of Arts & Science" complex (CAC), along the former bed of the River Turia, this complex was designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela. The City of Arts and Sciences is a unique complex devoted to science, technology, nature and art joining together the Hemisfèric, the Umbracle, the Príncipe Felipe Sciences Museum, the Oceanogràfic and the Palau de les Arts. Bike by in the complex’s gardens and once finished you’ll drop your bikes off at the shop and will be taken back by motorcoach to the pier.

You will enjoy this unique experience way more than just a visit to a simple restaurant. You will travel to this typical Valencian farm house from where you will spend time in the garden to pick some vegetables for making the paella and salads. Return to the main house of La Barraca and if you want, you can join the cook and see how the real and typical Valencian Paella is prepared. While the rice is cooking enjoy a gourmet tasting of Valencian “horchata de chufa” and “peanuts of collaret” from the Valencian countryside. When the paella is ready you will head to the dining room with the other preparers and enjoy your delicious paella and salad before returning to your yacht.

You will take a drive along the Avenida del Puerto to the Square Central Market that covers more than 26,246 feet over two floors. Your walking tour begins with the Gothic-style buildings that house the Silk Exchange Exhibition Pavilion. Continue on to the Cathedral where you’ll see a chalice defended as the true Holy Grail. Enjoy an external view of the 167-foot-tall Miguelete Tower connected to the cathedral. Your tour will continue with a panoramic drive to the City of Arts & Science designed by the architect Calatrava. This popular tourist attraction consists of an IMAX cinema, a planetarium, an interactive museum of science that resembles the skeleton of a whale, a landscaped walk with plant species indigenous to Valencia, an open-air oceanographic park, an opera house and performing arts center, a suspension bridge, and a covered plaza. You will have a photo-stop opportunity on your way back to the ship.

Just a few kilometers from the Port of Cartagena, this beautiful hacienda will delight you with the magnificent steeds of the ranch, pure Spanish-bred horses with fine bloodlines and a graceful appearance.  You will have the special opportunity meet the family and ask them questions. These carefully bred horses are sent to horse lovers all over the world. Looking and even touching the broodmares, seeing  the foals and new babies, watching the impressive stampede show, the Spanish Horse Training and the art of managing stallions are some of the things you will enjoy during the visit to the ranch. But just before returning to the pier, and while tasting some snacks you will be treated with an Andalusian dancer and a stallion performance. From the outside you will admire the beautiful architecture of the Alcazaba Fortress, a historic castle built in the 11th century to be the residence of the Arabian Caliphs or Kings. It is connected by a step path to Gibralfaro Castle, an ancient Moorish fortress with breathtaking views of the city and its bay. Buses will take you to the castle so you won’t have to walk up the hill. The Museo Picasso Málaga is run by the Fundación Museo Picasso de Málaga and the Fundación Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso. The Fundación Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso is the rightful owner of the collection there, whereas the Fundación Museo Picasso de Málaga owns the group of buildings that holds it. As was initially agreed by the donors, the two foundations are responsible for the conservation, exhibition, study and diffusion of the collection. At the museum, you will be able to appreciate all Picasso styles and techniques (Painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramic and graphic works in an exhibition with 155 works ranging from 1890 up to 1973.

Some things are just plain fun and riding a Segway around Spain definitely falls into that category. It takes a few minutes to get the hang of it; then you'll never want to get off! You'll begin your ride (after an introduction to the operation of the Segway) at Plaza de la Marina, in the center of Málaga. Continue to Larios Street, the main shopping avenue of the city, then on to Merced Square, at the end of Calle Alcazabilla, to see the obelisk erected as a tribute to General Torrijos, currently the headquarters of the Picasso Foundation. Next you will ride to the Santiago Church, built on the site of a former mosque and Málaga's oldest church (founded in 1490). You’ll also visit the Roman Theatre, discovered in 1951, which was built in the time of Caesar Augustus and used until the 3rd century A.D. After that time, it was used as a quarry by the Moors to restore the Alcazaba, which is the next stop on your tour. This impressive building, constructed mainly in the 11th century, was the palace/fortress of the ruling Muslims. Continuing on your tour, you’ll see the Catedral de la Encarnacion, Bishop Square, and the Paseo del Parque, before returning to Marina Square.

Your tour will depart for the 75-minute drive to the town of Porto Cristo, one of the oldest anchorages of the island. This fishing village is located at the end of a sheltered bay which developed in the Middle Ages to cater for Manacor. On the outskirts of the town is where you will find the famous Caves del Drach are located. The Caves of Drach are the most popular caves with tourists. There are three main caves, Cueva Negra (Black Cave), Cueva Blanca (White Cave) and Cueva Luis Salvator, at the end of which is a place called La Ventana (the window). Through La Ventana there is a huge lake, now known as Lago Martel (Lake Martel), behind which is the latest discovery of the caves, now known as Cueva de los Franceses (Cave of the French). Enjoy a row boat ride across Lake Martel, one of the world’s largest underground lakes accompanied by live classical music. The beauty of the caves can be appreciated thanks to its exceptional lighting. You will stop in Porto Cristo, with a short amount of time to browse at the pearl factory.

Palma is the capital of the Balearic Islands and lies on the southeastern coast of Mallorca Island. A wealth of architectural highlights awaits you. Board your coach and travel to your first stop at the circle-shaped 14th century Bellver Castle, one of the world’s very few rounded castles and the only one of its type in Europe. Built in military-influenced Gothic style, it lies atop a hill affording expansive panoramic views over the city and surrounding countryside.  You will travel on to the handsome 13th century La Seu Cathedral, which presides over the city and is one of Europe’s finest examples of pure ecclesiastic Gothic architecture. After exploring the Cathedral’s interior you will view the exterior of the adjacent Almudaina Palace. This austere palace was originally an Arab fortress and later the palace of Majorcan kings. Before returning to the yacht you will stop to see the unique style and architectural engineering of the city’s famous bullring.

 

Please note: Comfortable shoes with rubber soles are recommended. There are approximately 100 steps from the coach parking area to the La Seu Cathedral. Spanish law requires that motor coach guest’s wear their seat belts at all times while in vehicles that are so equipped. On Sundays and holidays the Cathedral is not open to visitors. The history of the Cathedral will be given outside. When visiting the Cathedral, knees and shoulders must be covered. Bellver Castle is closed on Mondays and the visit will be from the outside only with extra time for shopping.

             

 

 

 

One of the best ways to experience some of Mallorca's dramatic scenery is this train ride across the island that allows you to see the rugged interior. From the port, a short motor coach ride will take you to the train station. You will board the old fashioned electric train for Soller. Learn all about this old fashioned electric train that has preserved its traditional character for almost 100 years. You will be passing almond and locust-bean trees, groves of olive trees and the lush and pine covered mountains.  Arrive in Soller and take a walking tour around this charming village before returning to your yacht.

 

Please note: Train ride will be one way and could be either going to Soller or coming back,  depending on train schedules. The other way will be by motor coach.  You should always take your ID and  bring a camera, sun protection and sunglasses.

 

              

 

A short motor coach drive past olive trees and local vegetation brings you to the quaint 14th century village of Valldemossa, located at the foot of the Northern Mountain Range. Its former royal residence, La Cartuja, is the first stop on your tour. The residence became a Carthusian monastery in the Middle Ages and your guide will show you the chapel, a pharmacy, and the monks’ library. Valldemossa’s shining moment was in 1838, when George Sand and Frederic Chopin came to live at the monastery. Their stay here is well documented and a collection of their furniture remains. George Sand later wrote a book about their time here, entitled “A Winter in Majorca.” You will have an opportunity to taste the typical sweets from Valldemosa called Coca de Patata, an individual sweet cake made with potatoes. The drive back to the ship will give you the opportunity to view the impressive cliffs to the north.

Setting out from the port by coach, you will find it easy to relax and enjoy this driving tour of Spain’s most fascinating city, Barcelona, a lovely Mediterranean stronghold of architectural interest. You will drive along one of Barcelona’s most famous streets, the Passeig de Gracia, lined with different Modernist buildings, many of which were designed by architect Antoni Gaudí. Watch for Casa Batlló, an iconic Barcelona landmark and Casa Mila. You will drive by one of Gaudí’s masterpieces – the Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) Church (outside visit). This is a site not to be missed. Though construction was started in 1882 it is still unfinished. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the most-visited building in Barcelona, and immediately identifies the city around the world. From here you’ll head up to the viewpoint in Montjuic with the most exceptional views of Barcelona and its impressive harbor.

Leaving the port  behind, you will enjoy a 75-minute scenic drive aboard your comfortable motor coach. You will reach the heart of town and on your way will pass by main squares such as Garibaldi and Massena, take a drive uphill to the residential area of Cimiez and finally return to the town center. You will disembark your motor coach for a guided walk  and tour of Nice’s Old Town, known as the recourse Saleya, to discover the historical center, an area clearly marked by a strong Italian influence. Stroll through the narrow streets with tall buildings leaning one against the other – opening on  to picturesque squares.Visit the fruit and food market, offering a wide range of wonderful flowers, vegetables, fruits, bread, cheeses, olives, spices, lavender, soaps and much much more. Explore the surrounding area with its colorful houses, narrow picturesque streets and squares with their Italian flair.  You will  have free time to stroll in the charming little streets,  relax in the new garden area of Nice the “coulée verte” or do some shopping. You will meet back with your guide and your coach at a pre-arranged time and place and drive back to the port.

The local markets are closed on Mondays and will be replaced with a flea/antiques market.  The walking tour in Nice is mainly over even surfaces, though some inclines and steps are faced in the old town.


           

 

 

 

Leave Nice behind and enjoy your scenic drive towards the enchanting village of Eze, perched on a rock like an eagle’s nest. Explore the medieval streets, marvel at all those pretty little houses while discovering the history of the village. You will walk to the garden at the top of the village and enjoy breathtaking seaviews. Take the time for some unforgettable pictures and a stroll through the shops before returning to your coach. Your next destination will be reached descending from the Moyenne Corniche towards the lower corniche and finally along the coastline to Cap Ferrat – one of the most exclusive places on the Cote d’Azur. You'll stop at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, and walk for about 10 minutes to reach the entrance. Upon arrival, you will explore this wonderful palace whose architecture was inspired by the Italian Renaissance, and completely surrounded by a lovely 14-acre garden. From there, enjoy the gorgeous view over the two bays of  Villefranche and Beaulieu-sur-Mer before returning to Nice.

 

 

 

 

Depart from the pier and drive to the Tuscan town, Lucca. Lucca was originally colonized by Romans and has retained its layout of a Roman military camp with its two main streets running perpendicular to one another. Coupled with a complicated system of narrow alleys and oddly-shaped squares, this was a difficult town to penetrate.  Beginning in the 1550s, Lucca became an important agricultural center and experienced a renewed interest in building and infrastructure due to its population increase.  Your guided tour of Lucca will start with the Piazza Anfiteatro, a Roman Ampitheater, now a public square surrounded by shops.  You’ll also walk along Via Fillungo, the main pedestrian street in Lucca before visiting the Basilica of San Frediano, the oldest church in Lucca, and San Michele Church, known for its intricate facade.  After your walking tour, you will have free time to explore Lucca before your drive to Pisa.  In Pisa you’ll visit Piazza del Miracoli, a collection of four notable buildings with the most famous being the Leaning Bell Tower.  Don’t miss the chance to take a picture “propping up” the Leaning Tower or to enjoy an Italian gelato in a local café during your free time at this stop.  Afterwards, you’ll begin the drive back to your ship.
