Sorrento, Herculaneum
The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its “decumani” (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the “cardines” (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a “feeling” about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii’s buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. You will discover the ancient luxurious properties and villas including the House of the Mosaic, the House of Deer, the Thermae (baths) and the House of Carbonized Furniture. After a guided tour, you will be driven back to meet the yacht in Sorrento.

Please note: This tour involves considerable walking on uneven pathways. Bring a sun hat, as shade is limited. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Sorrento, Boat Tour to Positano
A private motorboat takes you along the coast to Positano, once a sleepy little fishing village and the secret haunt of painters and writers. Its charms are still evident. Square, white Moorish-style houses are set in luxurious gardens, and descend in steep steps down the mountainside to the bay. Offshore is Galli Island, the legendary home of Sirens. Positano is embroidered with narrow lanes and steps and dominated by the splendid dome covered in polychrome majolica at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Piazzettas and cafés are filled with people pausing during the 100-step climb that leads up the hillside. Enjoy time at leisure for shopping and for a satisfying drink at a café.

Please note: This tour is not for guests with physical limitations as it involves a great deal of walking over uneven terrain. However, walking up the steps is optional and not required. Wear comfortable shoes, a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

You will depart from the pier with your guide for this tour and board your private coach. After a 30-minute drive through the scenic countryside, you will reach Il Convento Farmhouse located in the heart of the land of the sirens, on the hills around Sorrento, overlooking the bay of Naples and Salerno.  Surrounded by lush vegetation, characterized by olive groves, vineyards and citrus groves, you will be introduced to the art of organically growing lemon and olive trees, and the production of limoncello, olive oil, as well as other typical products of this wonderful land.  You will spend an hour here, sample the award-winning limoncello and liqueurs, accompanied by a babá  (pastry) with time to shop their products, if you choose. Re-board your private coach for the 30-minute return to Sorrento. Your guide will take you on a pleasant stroll around the center of town.  And then, due to the very narrow way to reach your lunch destination, you will be transported by the private vehicles of the Ristorante Donna Sofia.  The relaxing and intimate environment of the restaurant is a tribute to actress Sophia Lauren.  Enjoy the ala carte lunch as you overlook the picturesque scenery of Mount Vesuvius in one of the best restaurants of Sorrento before returning to your waiting yacht.
