After exploring the Cathedral’s interior you will view the exterior of the adjacent Almudaina Palace. This austere palace was originally an Arab fortress and later the palace of Majorcan kings. Before returning to the yacht you will stop to see the unique style and architectural engineering of the city’s famous bullring.

Palma de Mallorca, Tapas in Palma
This gastronomically delightful tour will introduce you to the local tapas culture – a phenomenon dating as far back as the 13th century that has been “adopted” from the mainland tavern tradition. Tapas is a Spanish word meaning “appetizers,” although the interpretation is not exact, as tapas are often combined to make a meal. Palma is a city open to the sea, filled with charming streets and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Enjoy a brief orientation tour with a stop at Bellver Castle that dominates the city of Palma. Its circular ground plan (the only existing one in Europe) is a unique example of Gothic military architecture. Next, enjoy tapas at three of the best bars in Mallorca, each with a different ambiance and style of food. Don’t eat a large breakfast, as you will need room to enjoy these delicious taste treats. You will also sample a typical dessert before returning to the ship.

Please note: Although the tasting will vary seasonally, you can expect to enjoy beer, wine and typical tapas. Spanish law requires motor coach passengers to wear their seatbelts in vehicles that are so equipped.

Palma de Mallorca, Valldemosa & Chopin
A short motor coach drive past olive trees and local vegetation brings you to the quaint 14th century village of Valldemossa, located at the foot of the Northern Mountain Range. Its former royal residence, La Cartuja, is the first stop on your tour. Valldemossa’s shining moment was in 1838, when George Sand and Frederic Chopin came to live at the monastery. Their stay here is well documented and a collection of their furniture remains. George Sand later wrote a book about their time here, entitled “A Winter in Majorca.”  During free time, you will have the perfect opportunity to taste the typical sweets from Valldemossa called Coca de Patata, an individual sweet cake made with potatoes. The drive back to the ship will give you the opportunity to view the impressive cliffs to the north.

Malaga by Segway
Some things are just plain fun and riding a Segway around Spain definitely falls into that category. It takes a few minutes to get the hang of it; then you'll never want to get off! You'll begin your ride (after an introduction to the operation of the Segway) at Plaza de la Marina, in the center of Málaga. Continue to Larios Street, the main shopping avenue of the city, then on to Merced Square, at the end of Calle Alcazabilla, to see the obelisk erected as a tribute to General Torrijos, currently the headquarters of the Picasso Foundation. Next you will ride to the Santiago Church, built on the site of a former mosque and Málaga's oldest church (founded in 1490). You’ll also visit the Roman Theatre, discovered in 1951, which was built in the time of Caesar Augustus and used until the 3rd century A.D. After that time, it was used as a quarry by the Moors to restore the Alcazaba, which is the next stop on your tour. This impressive building, constructed mainly in the 11th century, was the palace/fortress of the ruling Muslims. Continuing on your tour, you’ll see the Catedral de la Encarnacion, Bishop Square, and the Paseo del Parque, before returning to Marina Square.

Please note:  This tour is not possible for people confined to wheelchairs.  The minimum age to participate is 10 and participants must weigh between 66 and 265 pounds. Helmets will be provided. Participants must sign a waiver to go on this excursion.

Tangier: Cooking Class at the Blue Door
Moroccan cuisine is considered one of the most important cuisines in the world. The cuisine of the first inhabitants, the Berbers, still exists today in the staple dishes like tagine and couscous.  The Arab invasion brought new spices, nuts and dried fruits, and the sweet and sour combinations that we see in dishes like tagine with dates and lamb. The Moors introduced olives, olive juice and citrus while the Jewish-Moors left behind their sophisticated preserving techniques that we see in the frequent use of preserved lemons, pickles, etc.  The Ottoman Empire introduced barbecue (kebabs) to Moroccan cuisine. The French colony, although short-lived left behind a culture of cafes, pastries, and even wine.
Over time, cooks in the kitchens of the five royal cities (Fez, Marrakesh, Meknes, Tangier and Rabat) have developed and perfected the dishes that blend each of these distinct tastes. Every Moroccan dish has its place in society and varies with the market, the season, and the region. Your first stop will be the Grand Socco, home to a cavalcade of color, charm, street musicians, a fish market, scenic handicrafts, and spices. You will then proceed to Blue Door Hotel Cooking Classroom, where you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea followed by a cooking lesson of a very traditional Moroccan dish,  learn how to make the traditional Moroccan bread and take it to a local oven. In the meantime, while waiting for the bread, you will learn how to make and serve a real Moroccan tea. Once food is ready, enjoy lunch and this authentic experience. Depart for your ship  with the knowledge needed to impress at your next dinner party.

Please note: Wear comfortable, flat  walking shoes. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, local currency.

Tangier: Tangier Walking Tour
Tangier is a fascinating city to visit and contrary to popular belief the movie Casablanca was based on Tangier, not Casablanca. It is an interesting mix of North African, Spanish and French cultures.  Your coach will take you on a 30-minute drive to the entrance of the Kasbah of Tangier. Walk inside the Kasbah and then you  will head uphill to an area barely changed since Roman times. Back down the hill you will find yourself in one of Tangier’s most colorful and bustling areas, the Grand Souk. It is the link between the medina and the new city. You will stop at the Continental Hotel for a refreshment before boarding your coach for the return trip to your waiting yacht.

Tangier: Tetouan UNESCO World Heritage
Tetouan is a Berber name which literally interpreted means "the eyes" and figuratively "the water springs."  The town features a fort, squares, mosques, fountains, taverns, and one of the Kings palaces. You will depart by motor coach on a guided orientation drive through the city of Tangier en-route to Tetouan, an hour away. You will start your tour at the old Royal Palace, a 17th century building which is itself a reflection of the Hispano-Moresque architecture. The palace is closed to public entry but its main ornate gate Bab Er-Rouah can give you a mental idea of what is beyond.  Hassan II Square is situated where the historic and modern parts of the city converge to create the heart of the town. You will join a guided walk through the Medina which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This traditional walled souk features many typical architectural traits related to its history and also a multitude of different artisans carrying out their trades.  You will also have the opportunity to visit the Bab Akla School of Traditional Arts and Crafts. Tetouan’s famous School of Plastic Arts, the first of its kind in Morocco, has produced some of Morocco’s best painters over the past half century, and keeps alive these traditional art forms in the modern world. The scholars of the school are all children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and the skills they learn give them a chance of success for their future. Your entrance fees go directly to maintaining this wonderful initiative.  Enjoy refreshments at a local Moroccan restaurant, located in the heart of Tetouan. If time permits, you will be given free time before returning to the ship.

Lisbon: Majestic Sintras & Cascais With Transfer To Hotel
