Bruges, Flemish Countryside & Castle of Loppem
Tour through typical Flemish countryside with a scenic drive to the quaint village of Damme. This typical Flemish village is steeped in traditional Flemish character. Use your free time here to stroll and explore or to sit down at a café and enjoy one of the many different kinds of beer Belgium produces (at your own expense). Damme is also known as a book town, with numerous bookshops and regular book fairs. Afterwards, you will drive through the outskirts of the historical city of Bruges for a view of the windmills and the impressive medieval city walls. Before returning to the ship, you will have a chance to buy some Belgian chocolates at one of the largest chocolate shops in the city. Next you will be transferred south of Bruges, where you will have the chance to visit the impressive Castle of Loppem. This castle has a particular style, in this sense that the architecture and the interior were kept in their original state.  It was in 1856 that the future castellans, Baron Charles van Caloen and his wife, Countess Savina de Gourcy Serainchamps, appointed the English architect Edward Welby Pugin (whose father, August Welby Northmore Pugin, participated in the building of the Westminster Houses of Parliament) with the task of designing the plans. Pugin's task was pursued by Jean Bethune, who provided a more flemish character to the construction. Loppem Castle later came to play a prominent role in the political history of Belgium at the end of World War I.Following your tour of the castle you will be returned to your waiting ship.

Please note: This excursion does not enter the city walls of Bruges, you only visit the outskirts of the city. This tour is ideal for guests who prefer minimal walking. For safety reasons, guests must be able to enter/exit the motor coach independently.

St Malo: Mont St. Michel
Mont St. Michel is considered one of the great religious sites in all of Europe and is often compared to St. Peter’s, Chartres, and Durham. First built following the appearance of Archangel Michael to the Bishop of Avranches, the abbey is constructed at the summit of an immense granite precipice 250 feet above the sea – a monument to the heyday of Norman power and influence in the world. Mont St. Michel makes its strongest impression when seen from a distance, on the approach from a 5-mile long causeway at Pontorson where Mont St. Michel joins the mainland.  Once at the abbey, your guided tour on foot will involve numerous stairs and steep paths – yet you are rewarded with magnificent views at every juncture. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. You’ll have free time to stroll the labyrinth of streets, browse the shops, and take in this magnificent architectural achievement. Following your exploration, return to the yacht along the coastal road, passing small towns and traditional fishing harbors along the way.

Please note: Inside the abbey, proper attire is required (no shorts or bare shoulders) and flash photography is not permitted. Due to its great popularity large crowds of visitors must be expected at the site. This tour requires heavy walking; up and downhill and on cobblestones. To reach the very top takes climbing between 197-350 steps.  Due to new regulations motor coaches are no longer allowed to enter Mont St. Michel.  There is a 20-30 minute from the parking lot to the shuttle bus that will take you to Mont St. Michel.

El Ferrol, Concierge Collection: Street Art
Your tour begins in the port of Ferrol, where you will take the city-train towards Canido situated at the top of the city. Las Meninas de Canido are works of urban art that dot the facades of Canido, a village that was annexed to Ferrol, which was degrading and now resurfaces thanks to the action of local, national, and international artists. This initiative comes from the painter Eduardo Hermida, who contacted friends and other artists to give a little life and color to the neighborhood, without imagining that years later the project was to become one of the most original tourist routes of Galicia and in Ferrol. Today there are more than 250 presentations of Meninas, reinterpreted by each artist based on the painting by Velazquez and even street furniture-shaped Meninas. The proposed route, takes an hour and will be led by Eduardo Hermida himself, then you will stop at a tapas bar, a popular bar in Canido where you will enjoy a typical Galician tapa or pastry (depends the season) After the tapas, you will go on city-train to the Nature Museum, the only museum of its kind in Galicia, where you will discover the collection of Cetaceans of the most complete northern Europe Atlantic route and one of the most important collections of fossil cetacean in the world. The museum is run by the Galician Society of Natural History (SGHN) whose ethical standards do not allow part of the sample anything from animals illegally captured or killed. After the visit and again in the city-train, you will head to the starting point of the route, where it will conclude.

Please note:  Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen.
