Join your coach and guide for a 30-minute drive to the area of Sörnäinen where the Helsinki Distilling Company is located. You will be welcomed with a tour of the facilities. The premises that The Helsinki Distilling Company occupies was formerly a power plant for 30 years, and afterwards, a soap factory, a meatball factory, a car wash, a wine cellar and an architect’s office. The distillery was founded in 2014 by 3 friends and has since won many international awards for the spirits they produce, which include gin, whisky, akvavit and of course the Helsinki Long Drink plus many more. Learn about the process of distilling, the raw materials used and the amount of work needed to create award-winning products.
After your tour, you will enjoy a private tasting of some of the products produced here and spend some free time. Board your coach again for a drive which will take you along Mannerheim Street, which is the main street through the city. You will see the Parliament House, the National Museum and Finlandia Hall, the concert and convention center designed by the famous architect Alvar Aalto. You will also pass the new Contemporary Art museum, Kiasma, designed by the American architect Steven Holl. Stop at the Senate Square with the majestic Lutheran Cathedral for a photo opportunity. On the way, you will also pass the Market Square, the Presidential Palace and Uspenski Cathedral.
Please note: This tour involves walking over paved and cobblestone surfaces with steps. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The order of sites toured may vary. Minimum age to participate in tasting at the distillery is 18. You will need to bring Identification to prove your age.
