Lembar, Fascinating Culture Of Lombok
This will be a true cultural experience. You will board your motor coach for the 45-minute ride to Banyu Mulek village, famous for handmade pottery.  Here you will take a cidomo ride (traditional horse cart) around the village to see the skilled villagers processing clay into beautiful export-quality pottery. At the local school, children are trained to make pottery from a very young age. A visit to a large gallery is included, where you can purchase finished products.  Your tour will then proceed to Narmada Water Palace. The centerpiece here is a large artificial lake whose shape resembles Segara Anak in the caldera of the Rinjani Volcano. It was built in 1805 by the Raja of Mataram after he became too old to climb Rinjani to deposit offerings in the sacred lake there. The replica of the volcano’s lake was a repository for the Raja’s offerings. Narmada’s temple, Pura Kalasa, is still used and the Balinese Pujawali celebration is held here annually. Lingsar, another large temple complex built in 1714, is the place of worship for Wetu Telu Islam. The Hindu temple is in the northern section and features a fountain. Continue heading north, as the road rises over two small hills offering a panoramic view. At Senggigi Resort, you will enjoy a sumptuous Indonesian buffet dinner served at an international restaurant inside the resort.  After dinner, in the central city of Mataram, you’ll stop to visit the famous pearl shops.

Please note:  Wear comfortable walking shoes and loose, comfortable clothing. Bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and local currency.

Tendering from the ship, you will arrive at the Komodo Jetty which is the headquarters of Komodo National Park. The world-renowned wildlife island of Komodo is the desolate domain of a fierce and very rare species of reptile appropriately called a Komodo Dragon.  A clear indication of Komodo National Park's biological importance is its ranking with UNESCO as both a World Heritage Site and a Man and Biosphere Reserve. The Komodo Dragon is thought to be the remnant of a once widespread ancient order of monitor lizards. Today, fewer than 300 of this protected species remain and its continuing existence hangs in the balance. Often measuring up to 11 feet in length and weighing in at over 300 pounds, this ominous looking creature, with its sharp, saw-like teeth and menacing eyes, leaves a lasting impression on all who have had the opportunity to see it up close. Living on deer and wild pigs that inhabit the island, it is surprisingly agile when covering short distances and is a good swimmer. Once ashore, you will be met by a local tour guide to begin the walking expedition of the island. Traveling in small groups with the guide and a park ranger, you will make your way along paths that lead through pockets of thorny vegetation and dry tropical grasslands to the viewing point. Triton Bay, Snorkel Highlights
In 2008 the Kaimana Regency declared a 2,317 square mile (6000 km²) Marine Protected Area around the waters of Triton Bay. Conservation International maintains an office in Kaimana and a field station out in Triton Bay where visiting scientists can do their work. The marine biodiversity is second to none and the area offers everything from the tiniest pygmy seahorses to large and graceful whale sharks. Triton Bay is one of three regions in Indonesia’s West Papua province that comprise the Bird’s Head Seascape. This is considered to be the epicenter of the Coral Triangle, containing more fish and coral species than anywhere else on the planet.  Triton Bay is best known for its beautiful soft coral gardens as well as having nesting grounds for green turtles, a population of coastal Bryde’s whales, and whale sharks. Triton Bay offers incredible Zodiac voyages. Upon your arrival at Triton Bay your guide will be waiting on the local boat at the anchorage position near Namatota island, afterward start your Zodiac explore to visit  fishing platform Bagan for a potential opportunity to swim and snorkel with the biggest fish on earth, the whale sharks which congregate around the bay lured in by the bait fish especially in the dark moon where there are more bait fish in there. The fisherman often feed them bait fish or anchovies as they believe the whale sharks bring them luck. From here your Zodiac tour is continued to explore the group of tiny Karst islands that rise like magical rocks out of the azure sea and the attractive ancient age rock paintings on the coral walls. A stop will be made at a secluded white sandy beach to enjoy beaches and snorkeling activity and to see the beautiful coral garden with a lot of colorful tropical fish. After lunch on the ship, re-board the Zodiac to visit Namatota village, the former center of Namatota Kingdom which played an important role in the past, and enjoy the attraction of a local culture performance in the village.

Lizard Island, Research Station Guided Tour
Established by the Australian Museum in 1973, the Lizard Island Research Station is dedicated to supporting research into all aspects of the Great Barrier Reef. It is a world-leading supplier of on-reef facilities for coral reef research and education. Tours take approximately 90 minutes once you have reached the research station. Coral reefs are under threat worldwide: recent estimates are that 10% of reefs are already damaged beyond repair and another 70% are threatened. Australia is one of the few developed countries to have significant coral reef areas under its control, and the Great Barrier Reef is among the best managed in the world. Over the last three decades, Australia's capability has become pre-eminent in tropical marine science and coral reef management. This places Australia in a unique position to provide on-reef facilities for coral reef research and education to a world-wide customer base. You'll learn about the important facility and the research that is undertaken by groups both nationally and internationally and how the research will help to sustain the fragile environment that lays just beneath the water surface. You will either need to tender directly to the Research Station site if possible or alternately disembark at the tender point near Lizard Island resort and walk to the research station. Departing from the Tender landing point near Lizard Island Resort you will make your way independently (recommend guided by ship’s escort) along the research road walk. The easy walk takes approximately 30 minutes to walk the 1.4 miles in each direction. A sandy road from the western end of the airstrip passes through woodland and leads to the Lizard Island Research Station. Vehicles use the road so you are advised to take care.

Please note: Be sure to prepare for the heat and the walk with flat soled shoes, light clothing, sunscreen, a hat, local currency, bottled water and photo identification.
