Vanuatu, Chief Roi Matas Domain
The Lelepa Region communities have only recently developed this fascinating full day tour to Artok or Hat Island, the revered mass burial site of Chief Roi Mata and the 50 or more individuals who accompanied him to the afterlife. Immediately after Roi Mata’s burial, around 400 years ago, a prohibition was imposed on the island preventing people from residing there. The maintenance of this prohibition over four centuries has led to the development of a unique biodiversity on the island, where a number of rare and endemic plant and animal species have found refuge. You will be treated to an exclusive day-long adventure that will provide you with an appreciation of the World Heritage values of this spectacular island and its rich cultural and environmental history. You will see the mass burial site of the great Chief Roi Mata, take a guided tour through an ancient rainforest, unique to Vanuatu, see Fels cave with its ancient rock paintings where the great chief took his last breath, enjoy picturesque afternoon tea/coffee at one of the secluded sandy beaches, take bus transfers to and from North Efate, scenic boat trips to and from the World Heritage sites with a barbecue lunch included.

Please note:  Wear good walking shoes, and bring a towel, extra change of clothes or swimsuit, bug spray and sunscreen.

Vanuatu, Lolomila Cascades Waterfall
Take “the road less traveled” to Port Vila’s hidden gem, Lololima Cascades & Waterfall! Lololima Cascades is situate on private leasehold property 20 minutes out of town, therefore access to the general public is restricted to a fortunate few! Your tour bus will stop just a 3-minute walk away from the Cascades. Once there, you can swing on the “Tarzan rope” and plunge into the pool or just immerse yourself in the refreshingly cool water in the naturally formed sandstone pools, and finish with an invigorating soak in one of two natural Jacuzzis, a whirlpool effect created by the cascading water. There are also shallow pools suitable to enjoy in safety. If you are game and fit, your guide will take you up the waterfall where you will begin a river walk, wading through water where necessary or along the bush tracks beside the meandering river. During your walk your guide will point out the local flora and fauna, including those which have an importance in their society as traditional food or medicine. The return walk will end with an exhilarating slide down the waterfall into a pool (optional). There is also a cave under the waterfall to check out. Come and discover for yourself Port Vila’s hidden gem and its natural and pristine surroundings – and enjoy a wet fun filled day!
