Arenal Volcano Costa Rica
The imposing Arenal Volcano is a must-see for visitors to Costa Rica. And the scenic surrounding area is full of bountiful sights, sounds and activities. You will have the opportunity of a bird's-eye-view over the biologically diverse rainforest.

Day to Day Land Tour  – Pre/Post-Cruise 
 
Day 1 (L)
San Jose / Puerto Caldera to La Fortuna / Arenal Area
You will be picked up from the airport /port and transported to the La Fortuna / Arenal Area. It is suggested you arrive before 10:00 a.m. to enjoy all the activities included in this tour. On the way to Arenal you will stop at Nectandra Garden and walk through dense forest and undulating terrain to appreciate the associated richness of avifauna. This walk will take 2-3 hours. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant and you will be taken to your hotel.

Day 2  (B)
La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano and Reserve
After breakfast at your hotel your Sky Trek will begin. You will board Sky Trams for a 20-minute ride to see the rainforest, the Arenal Volcano and lake, to reach the top of the Arenal Reserve, and then your tour of adventure above the treetops begins as you take zip lines to observe the rainforest and landscape from a different perspective. There will also be time to walk through one of the trails from the Observation Deck. You will then be transferred back to your hotel for overnight.
 
Day 3  (B)
La Fortuna to San Jose / Puerto Caldera
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before your transfer to the Juan Santamaria International Airport or to the Caldera Port. Please note that you will need to be at the airport 3 hours prior to your departure time, so it is suggested that you book your departure flight after 4 p.m.
 
Please note: This tour includes two nights at the hotel, all transfers to and from La Fortuna / Arenal and to various sites. Bring your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent and comfortable walking shoes. This tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for people with mobility issues. On Day 1, if you arrive after 12 p.m. there is not enough time to take the Nectandra tour and you will take the tour on Day 3 instead.

San Jose / Puerto Caldera to Monteverde Area
You will be picked up from the airport / port and transported to the Monteverde Cloudforest, founded 40 years ago, and one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in the tropics. The Resplendent Quetzal is often sighted here. You will take the Sugar Mill tour where you will meet a peasant family, learn about local culture and about the process of turning sugar cane into the sugar on your table. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant before you are transferred to your hotel.

Day 2  (B )
Monteverde Area
After breakfast your guide will meet you in the lobby and you will transfer to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Here's your opportunity to see the amazing flora and fauna of the region as you hike through the well-marked trails, past waterfalls, rivers, and to the observation area of the park. There is a wide variety of wildlife here including the jaguar, ocelot, Baird’s tapir, three-wattled bellbird, and bare-necked umbrella bird. After your 2-3 hour hike you will have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the amenities of your hotel. Overnight at your hotel.
 
Day 3  (B)
Monteverde to San Jose / Puerto Caldera

Tortuguero National Park

A private journey through the canals of Tortuguero (or “Land of Turtles”) allows you to get within a whisper of leatherback and green turtle nesting sites. Day 1
San Jose / Puerto Caldera to San Jose
You will be picked up from the airport / port and transported to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day on your own to see the sights of San Jose. The city has many places to eat, dance, and enjoy nightlife. It has become a cosmopolitan capital surrounded by theaters, museums, parks, and galleries. A walk through San Jose will show you the country's architecture, influenced through history by Colonial, Neoclassic, Eclectic, Art Deco, and Victorian structures.

Day 2  (B,L,D)
San Jose to Tortuguero Area
After a light breakfast your guide will meet you in the lobby and you will transfer to Tortuguero, one of the most popular eco-tourisim destinations in Costa Rica and the most important nesting grounds for the green sea turtle. Tortuguero National Park is home to 57 species of amphibians, 111 reptile species, 309 bird species and more to be discovered. You will have a full breakfast at a local restaurant and continue to the docks to take a boat to your lodge.  Lunch and dnner will be included at the lodge restaurant.

Day 3 - Tortuguero National Park (B,L,D)
After breakfast you will leave the lodge by boat with your Naturalist Guide to explore the creeks of Tortuguero. The mornings are especially active and you may see troops of Howler monkeys, river otters, or the Northern Jacana. This tour is a 3-hour trip into the backwater lagoons and creeks and you will return to the lodge for lunch. Your afternoon will include a 2.5-hour visit to Tortuguero Town and the Turtle Museum. A boat will take you back to the lodge for dinner. Overnight at your lodge.
 
Day 4 - Tortuguero Area to San Jose Area (B,L)
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before your transfer by boat to the dock where your driver will be waiting. Continue to Guapiles, for a stop at El Ceibo Restaurant for a delicious lunch. Then you will be driven back to San Jose via Braulio Carrillo National Park, with one of the highest levels of biodiversity in Costa Rica. There are more than 600 identified species of trees, over 530 species of birds and 135 species of mammals. This 2-hour trip will take you back to your Costa Rica Marriott Hotel to overnight.

Day 5 - Departure From Costa Rica (B)
