See the bustling marketplace, the Belfry Tower, the Town Hall and the Chapel of the Holy Blood. Belgium's finest export product is undoubtedly chocolate and you will learn why its longstanding reputation is well deserved. Walk to a Belgian chocolatier to see a demonstration how raw chocolate bars are made into fine Belgian chocolates using only the freshest and best ingredients. Ghent is a dynamic city with a center straight out of the Middle Ages. In rebellion against annexation, it was the simple weavers and poorly trained infantry militia from Bruges, Ghent and the area surrounding the town (but not the town leaders) who took up arms to defeat 10,000 mounted French Knights of King Philip IV in The Battle of the Golden Spurs in 1302. After a 75-minute drive in the typical Flemish countryside, you will arrive at the medieval city of Ghent. Before enjoying the beautiful city of Ghent you'll have the opportunity to relax and anjoy the taste of a real Belgian waffle at a local Waffle house. Your guided walking tour starts at the bottom of St. Michael's Bridge. On top of St Michael's Bridge you will have the most impressive view of the historical city center. From that point you can see the Old Port with gabled guild houses, the age-old Castle of the Counts and the famous " Row of Three Towers ," St. Nicolas Church, the Belfry tower and St. Bavo's Cathedral. Pass the Old Port, the Meat House and the City Hall to reach St. Bavo's Cathedral. The highlight of this tour will be the visit to a chocolatier . A Belgian chocolate maker will show you how raw chocolate bars are made into the fine Belgian chocolates using only the best of fresh and carefully selected ingredients. Tasting is allowed!! ! At the end, there will be time to purchase some chocolates. Following the visit to the factory there will be free time (approximately 45 minutes) for shopping. This tour takes in the dramatic history of World War I and the battles fought in and around Ypres . The city of Ypres, located in Flanders Fields, was reduced to rubble by constant bombardments. It has come to symbolize the meaningless slaughter of the Great War. Now restored to its former grandeur, Ypres contains numerous poignant sites and monuments linked to the war. There are many battlefields around Ypres where German and Allied armies fought without decisive victories. New weapons such as gas, land mines and missiles left 1,200,000 injured and 500,000 dead. You will stop to visit one of the British cemeteries Tyne Cot and see the Menin Gate -a famous British War Memorial with the names of 54,896 missing soldiers engraved on its walls. You will have free time for shopping and lunch in the city center of Ypres. Then visit the Essex Farm Cemetery -one of the area's most visited sites due to its association with John McCrae who wrote his poem on May 3, 1915-the day after he witnessed the death of his friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer. Next to the cemetery is a marker with the date commemorating the writing of this poem. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes as the surfaces are uneven and cobblestoned. TYou will start your tour through the typical Flemish countryside with a scenic drive to the quaint little village of Damme, a typical Flemish village that has retained its historic character. You will drive through Damme at a slow pace so that you have plenty of photo opportunities. Continue your tour by driving through the outskirts of the historical city of Bruges. You will get a view of the windmills and the impressive Medieval walls surrounding the city of Bruges, before having the opportunity to buy some famous Belgian chocolates at one of the largest chocolate shops around Bruges. Afterwards, you will be transferred south of Bruges, where you will have the opportunity of making a visit to the impressive Castle of Loppem. This castle has a particular and homogenous style, and the architecture and the interior have been kept in their original state. It was in 1856 that the future castellans, Baron Charles van Caloen and his wife, Countess Savina de Gourcy Serainchamps, appointed the English architect Edward Welby Pugin (whose father, August Welby Northmore Pugin, participated in the building of the Westminster Houses of Parliament) with the task of designing the plans. Pugin's task was followed by Jean Bethune, who provided a more Flemish character to the construction. Loppem Castle later came to play a prominent role in the political history of Belgium at the end of World War I. Please note : This excursion does not enter the city walls of Bruges, you only visit the outskirts of the city. This tour is ideal for guests who prefer minimal walking. At the entrance to spectacular Geirangerfjord, Alesund has been voted the most beautiful town in Norway, and not only because of its location. The town burned to the ground in 1904 and was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style, with a few added elements from Nordic mythology - a longboat here, an image of Thor there.

The community of Giske consists of four islands. Two of them will be visited on this tour - the Giske and Godøy Islands, which lie further to the west. The tour to the islands will take you via bridges and underwater tunnels, the longest being 2.6 miles (4.2 km). Giske is known as the Saga Island for the fact that the Viking Chieftain Rollo was born here. This island is fairly flat and fertile. On the island you will visit the old stone church dating back to 1150, originally a chapel belonging to the mighty Giske family. From Giske you will continue over to Godøy Island. On the northwestern side of the island you will drive towards the small but picturesque fishing village of Alnes , situated facing the Atlantic Ocean. Take a closer look at the old lighthouse, climb the stairs to the very top and enjoy refreshments at the visitor center. On the way back to the ship visit the viewpoint Mt. Aksla , with a spectacular view of Ålesund and the islands that have just been visited. Please note : Giske church is a working church and due to unforeseen church services, an inside visit to the church cannot be guaranteed. You will be given an interpretation of the history and culture of this Art Nouveau city perched on the Atlantic. You will also paddle through the scenic maze of islands offering views of Ålesund's coastline that you can only enjoy from the vantage point of a kayak. You will set off bicycling through Ålesund , riding past delightful stone buildings and churches carved with enchanting art nouveau décor. Riding over Asp Island and around the outer edge of Hess Island you will see beaches, pasturelands, and historic installations from World War ll. Arriving at Sugar Summit trailhead you will leave your bicycles and begin your 35-minute hike up to some breathtaking panoramic views of the sea, surrounding islands, Sunnmøre Alps and the city of Ålesund. The view is worth every step, making this the highlight of your tour. On your return bicycle ride you will get another chance to enjoy the scenic views that Ålesund has to offer. After boarding the RIB, your adventure beings as your captain takes you to the area's most scenic spots. Once aboard, prepare to feel the adrenaline rush of the RIB boat's speed and be awe-inspired by the scenery. You will venture to the island of Runde, with close-up views of Sunmøre's beautiful coastline en route. Keep an eye out for the Grasøyane and Runde lighthouses, along with natural wonders such as interesting caves and abundant bird life . In fact, Runde is famous for its staggering number of birds, with between 500,000 and 700,000 of the winged creatures inhabiting the isle. Among the species you might spy are puffins, common guillemot, fulmar and razorbill. The pleasant small village of Olden is located at the inner end of the 66-mile long Nordfjord, the sixth longest fjord in Norway. Long known for tourism and industry, it is now also famous for contemporary design. With fewer than 500 inhabitants Olden is an ideal destination for people who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, and is the gateway to Jostedal, the largest glacier on the European mainland. If you can, find a bottle of Olden Mineral Water, as close as you will get to a glacier on tap.

The village of Olden is situated at the end of the innermost arm of lovely Nordfjord, which cuts its way inland to the mighty ice fields of the Jostedals Glacier , Europe's largest glacier. Briksdal Glacier , your destination on this tour, is one of its arms.Leaving Olden's center by coach with your guide, you will pass two picturesque churches and the beautiful lakes Floren and Olden. At the end of the valley lies Rustøen, around which numerous waterfalls tumble from the ice field. The road ascends through woodlands to the Briksdalen Inn, where you will leave the coach. The powerful Briksdal Glacier is a part of the Jostedal Glacier National Park. The wild glacier swoops down from a height of 3,927 feet to the lush, narrow Briksdal Valley. When you arrive at Briksdal Fjellstove the "Troll cars" will be waiting to take you safely to where the road ends - at the famous glacier. It's a fantastic trip on a narrow road that crosses the foaming glacier stream twice. You will return to Briksdal Fjellstove which has been the meeting place for hill walkers and mountaineers in Briksdalen for several generations. Here you will be served some coffee/tea and cake before your return by bus to Olden and the ship. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in warm layers.

After a safety briefing and dressing in a warm weatherproof suit, you will set out on a speedy and invigorating RIB boat trip on the Nordfjord. The crayfish pots are already down below in the fjord, so all you will have to do is pull them up into the boat. Once ashore, you will cook your delicious catch on an open fire by Mølla Guesthouse. After brief safety and paddling instructions you will set off toward the glacial waters of the Nordfjord. Your guide will share with you information about the town of Olden, the Vikings influence of the area, and how the fjord was created by the glaciers. Enjoy a scenic 50-minute drive to Kjenndal Glacier , where you can take a leisurely stroll to have a closer look at the lowest glacier arm of the mighty Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier in mainland Europe. Leave the charming village of Olden, at the head of the beautiful Nordfjord, you will drive along its shores toward the popular village of Loen . This small village offers you the pleasure of its fjord, Loen Lake, glaciers, high mountains and luxuriant plant life. Continue to the Kjenndal Valley where you will experience the lovely, troll-like atmosphere in Lodalen, and the jade green, mirror of Loen Lake. You will be surrounded by mountains covered by protruding glacier arms. Upon arrival at the trailhead you can take a short stroll to the glacier viewpoint where you can view the magnificent Kjenndal Glacier nestled between two high mountain tops with glistening waterfalls. Continuing to Kjenndalstova , situated on the shore of Lake Loen, you will enjoy waffles and coffee in beautiful surroundings. Please note : It is recommended that guests dress in layered clothing, wear comfortable walking shoes and are prepared for inclement weather. The optional walk to the viewpoint is on a dirt and gravel path with gradual slopes and is approximately .5 miles round trip.

The Loen Skylift is the fastest and easiest way to the best views in Norway. This cable car is one of the steepest cable cars in the world and offers magnificent views over the Olden and Loen Valley. You will see parts of the grand Jostedals Glacier, the largest glacier in continental Europe, maintained by the heavy snowfall in the region. You will also overlook the jade green water of the Loen and Briksdals lakes. Continuing on you will hike on a well maintained path, past the north side of Tungegjølet, a steep narrow gully that ends down at Loen. You will walk close to the steep mountainsides until you reach the peak of Staurinibba, 4,524 feet (1379m) above sea level. The reward that awaits you is well worth the effort - with an impressive view of inner Nordfjord. At the conclusion of your hike, sit back, relax and breathe in the mountain air as you enjoy a light refreshment at the top of Mount Hoven. Please note: Participants must be in good physical condition and should dress in layered clothing, bring rain gear and wear comfortable hiking shoes. The trail covers 3.5 miles (5.4km) round trip and is on dirt and gravel, with gradual but consistent inclines, and steps. This tour is not recommended for anyone who is afraid of heights or experiences vertigo. Comfort stops available at the base and top of the cable car. If there is snow on top of the mountain snowshoes and poles will be available for additional charge.
