The Balthazar River nestled in an exotic tropical rainforest is fed from sources deep in the island’s interior. Here is your opportunity to have a thrilling river tubing experience on what is known locally as the “Great River.”   You will take a 45-minute journey from St. George’s through the scenic hilly interior of the Grand Etang Rainforest Reserve to the Balthazar Estate. Your arrival will be followed by a safety briefing before you’ll be equipped with a life vest, modified inner tube, and a paddle. You will be accompanied by guides as you gently spin and swirl in the river currents. Marvel at the exotic views of tropical vegetation and wildlife as your thrilling river ride progresses. Several pools along the way provide the perfect opportunity to catch your breath. Finally sample a much-deserved rum punch or local fruit juice. All too soon, it’s time to return to the ship.

Please note:  River levels vary according to the amount of rainfall and may affect operation of the tour. Wear your swimsuit and bring along a towel and water shoes. Participants need to be physically fit and there is a weight limit of 230 lbs.

 

 

The Tower Estate is a unique property that is known as the Downton Abbey of Grenada. This estate has been the home of the Slinger Family since the mid 1940’s and is a beautiful 107-year-old historic Victorian-style great house that sits atop a small peak in the Parish of St. George.  It boasts a 1-1/2-acre lush tropical ornamental flower garden, surrounded by flowering trees, shrubs, vegetables, fruit trees and the island’s world-famous array of spices.  The magnificent stone and wood building features mahogany ceilings, hand-crafted paneled walls, furnished with period antiques, reminiscent of yesteryear and adorned with a unique collection of maps and prints that hold the keys to rich, historical stories of Grenada. Your tour will include a tour of the garden and the house where you will enjoy light snacks that will include Grenada's famous chocolate and incredible blue tea.

Depart from the ship and take a short ride via tender to the small pier at Man-O-War Bay.  On arrival you will board a coach for a 15-minute delightful scenic and mountainous drive to the town of Speyside to the Blue Waters Inn where a glass bottom boat awaits. Cruise out of the tiny harbor and down the emerald coast before heading out to Angel Reef. A favorite for divers around the world, Angel Reef boast crystal-clear water providing visibility up to 100 feet. Enjoy another perspective of Tobago as your guide will highlight points of interest and share his knowledge of this underwater environment. Float over 1,000-year-old coral formations. Observe huge sponges and the world’s largest single brain coral. You will see colorful reef fish and diverse marine life in their natural habitat. The boat will drop anchor and you are invited to snorkel, swim or simply relax on board. Cold drinks will be served before your return to Blue Waters Inn where you will have the opportunity to spend some free time before your journey back to Charlotteville to re-join your ship.

Enjoy a half-day tour of Tobago’s rainforest.  Your drive will take you along Tobago’s Windward Coast to Roxborough and entry to the Argyle Waterfalls Trail, where you will turn off the Main Ridge and enter the oldest Forest Reserve in the Western Hemisphere.  At the rainforest, a Naturalist Guide will take you for a 20-minute hike (each way) through lush tropical vegetation, abundant in plant and wildlife. Next you will visit the 3-tiered Argyle Waterfalls, where you may swim in the natural pool or simply take in the tranquility of the reserve. After your rainforest and waterfall adventure, you will make your way back to Charlotteville and re-board your waiting ship. 

Please note: This tour cannot accommodate guests with wheelchairs. Wear comfortable walking shoes.  The hike to the falls is 20-30 minutes.

You will depart Charlotteville in a mini-bus and travel up and over the lush mountains for a scenic drive along the eastern seashore. Stop at the Speyside Lookout and enjoy sweeping views of mountains, coast and offshore islands. Continue on through tiny villages clinging to the mountainsides, past picturesque bays, as you learn about Tobago’s turbulent history and the fascinating mélange of people that make up her present citizenry. You will make your way to Gilpin Trace where your trained Naturalist Guide will meet you to begin your trek. The hike will take you through the oldest rainforest in the Western Hemisphere, the Gilpin Trace, famous for its abundance of birdlife. Learn about Tobago’s indigenous flora and fauna as your guide will point out the most interesting species. Stop for a break, to listen to the sounds of the forest along the way. Enjoy a quiet moment in this beautiful forest before returning to your mini-bus to make your way back to the ship.

Please note: Due to strenuous hiking routes, participants should be physically fit. Please wear the appropriate shoes. If you wish you can bring along a snack from the ship.  You will be provided with bottled water on this tour.

 

Please note: Remember your sunblock and beach towels. You may bring along your own snorkel gear from the yacht and you will be taken ashore by small boat as it is illegal to anchor on the reef.

Depart the Soufriere dock for a short transfer through the historic town of Soufriere and up through the hills to Fond Doux Plantation set on 135 acres of land. Locally owned and operated, this award winning property is over 25 years old. Your time on the plantation will begin with a guided walking tour, where you will learn about the cocoa process, chocolate making and the rich history of the island. Situated among the cocoa groves, you will not only get to smell the cocoa throughout the tour, but will also have the opportunity to see the various stages of the chocolate making process. Enjoy sampling fruits in season grown on the property and a refreshing drink before returning to the port.

Located in the town of Soufriere, you’ll visit one of the top local restaurants in the area owned by local celebrity chef - Orlando Satchell. Depart the Soufriere docks for a short drive to Chef Ornlando's Restaurant where you will be met by Chef Orlando and his team, with a cold towel and welcome drink. In the simple and delightful restaurant setting, Chef Orlando will demonstrate his fine culinary expertise and create some mouthwatering fusions. Interact with the Chef and learn cooking tips for creating amazing dishes. Afterwards, you’ll be seated to enjoy a delicious 3-course Caribbean style lunch before heading back to the Soufriere docks and ship.

A nature lover’s paradise awaits, as you depart the Soufriere dock for a drive through the town of Soufriere and then into a small community surrounded by lush rainforest, before arriving at the entrance of the Grand Eden Estate.  Your friendly nature guide awaits and your encounter with nature begins the moment you step off your bus.  Your time spent in nature starts as you are guided through well designed natural trails, learning about the flora and fauna. Enjoy sightings of a variety of birds, learn about the medicinal uses of plants along the trail and feel the fresh breeze, as you stop and admire the amazing scenery that surrounds you.  See the island’s most photographed landmark, the Pitons and the island’s tallest mountain Mount Gimmie. Continue on to the farm and sample fruit freshly picked off the trees. Learn about planting methods used and taste fresh juice made from fruit grown on the estate. Depart Grand Eden Estate for your return journey back to the Soufriere docks and ship feeling rejuvenated from your time spent in nature.

Guests can bring along a small bottle of water if need be as refreshment is not served until after the hiking trail.  

Soufriere is blessed with many natural wonders both above and below the surface of the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. These include some of the healthiest coral reefs in the Caribbean.  Depart the Soufriere dock on board a motorized Catamaran or a 38-ft Bertram for your snorkel adventure at one of the island's Marine Reserves.  Anchored or tied to a mooring, you will enter the water directly from the boat. Spend time snorkeling at a Marine Reserve, home to a variety of colorful tropical reef fish and coral.  After your snorkel adventure, board a boat for a cruise to the Soufriere dock and ship.

You will be fascinated as you look into the window of another world. The 32-foot glass-bottom boat will give you an incomparable view of the underwater world of the Bonaire National Marine Park. You will just need to sit back on the comfortable seats and enjoy this narrated eco-tour of one of the best preserved and protected reefs of the world. The tour will start directly from the pier. As you head to Klein Bonaire you will hear an introduction to the marine park.  The unspoiled, uninhabited island is just 0.6 miles out of Bonaire. At Klein Bonaire you will drift for 30 minutes along the reefs to encounter the marine life through the glass viewing panel (9.8’ x 2.62’). Then you will head back to the cruise terminal while passing along the beautiful coastline of Bonaire. From the start till the end you have the chance of meeting many marine creatures that habitat the reefs. The viewing window is large enough for everyone to observe the reef simultaneously. 

Please note: There are two steps into the boat.

Bonaire is known for its pink flamingos, nature reserves and superb diving and snorkeling sites. Today's relaxing drive will cover both the scenic and historic highlights. Board your motor coach at the pier. Your route will carry you north along the coast, past many of the island’s fine vistas and dive sights. You will pass by Lake Goto (Goto Meer), the island’s land-locked salt-water lagoon, for a look at the long-legged pink flamingos. Continue your drive across the island, passing by the fresh water well "Dos Pos" and through the village of Rincon, the oldest settlement in the ABC islands. Your first stop of the day will be in the village of Rincon, which was settled by the Spanish in the 16th century. From here, you’ll visit a popular outdoor venue with a small museum where you sample locally produced liqueur made out of cactus and lime.  As you make your way to the southern part of the island, you will have a stop for photos of the salt pans – the color contrast between the blue Caribbean, pink salt pans and towering white mounds of dry salt are quite spectacular. Your route will also carry you past the white slave huts, small shelters built for the slaves forced to labor in the salt ponds.

Join an exclusive, small group for a tour to the northern part of Bonaire. You will learn about their history, culture and modern life while you take in the beauty of their waters, untouched nature and catch up with flamingos and other shore birds. They will teach you the cutest words in their language " Papiamento"  - the language of the Caribbean ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao - and let you try some phrases.  Then you will stop in the rolling hills with a spectacular view over the valley of Rincon. Pause at a local terrace Restaurant and enjoy a wonderful breeze while you tickle your taste buds with a few samples of traditional Bonairean cuisine. Afterwards continue your scenic drive further with more stories about the island before you return back to the cruise ship pier. All in all, a unique experience and a different way of showing you this beautiful island - a cultural delight!

This day of sun and fun will start when you meet your guide at the pier.  A short walk along the ocean boulevard will bring you to a lovely beach, where your eco-adventure begins. First, you’ll take a moment for a safety briefing and paddling instructions for your 2-person glass-bottom kayak.  Your stable, sit-on-top kayak is equipped with a comfortable backrest seat, life vest, a waterproof bag for your personal belongings and, of course, paddles. Off you go, into the calm waters. You’ll enjoy Bonaire’s Caribbean shore as you kayak over shallow water, filled with colorful sea life.  Keep an eye out for pelicans and turtles!  Two guides will accompany you all the way.  The bay is always protected from the elements.  Your destination will be a beach in the southern part of the Bonaire Marine Park and an exquisite snorkeling place, excellent for all skill levels.  Bonaire has a long history of marine preservation and is world renowned for its snorkeling.  This area is the perfect spot to introduce yourself to its spectacular underwater sights! Pull your kayak right onto the sandy beach, and moments later you will be slipping into the warm water with your snorkel gear and enjoying the breathtaking coral and the many colorful tropical reef fish.  As you float effortlessly in the crystal-clear water, look for fish like blue tangs, damsel fish and wrasses.  Other sea life abounds, as well; if you’re lucky, you may spot a hawksbill, a green turtle or perhaps even a seahorse.  All of your snorkel equipment will be provided, but if you have brought an underwater camera, this would be a great time to use it! Afterwards, relax on the beach and refresh yourself with some provided bottled water before kayaking back along the scenic route to the pier.

Please note: Bring a towel and wear your bathing suit under your clothing. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water shoes are recommended.  

You’ll join your open air Tuk-Tuk and your guide at the pier and head through the island’s capital, Kralendijk, on a sightseeing tour.  Originally from Thailand and used as mini taxis, the Bonaire Tuk-Tuks are powered with an emission free and environmentally friendly electric motor. In Kralendijk your first stop will be small Fort Orange, built in 1639 to defend Bonaire’s main harbor. Your Tuk-Tuk guide will take you by the square and through the streets of the capital taking in the local life. Pause for a few stories about Captain Don, a legendary figure and founder of Bonaire's diving industry and many other local highlights. A visit will be made to the island’s largest church, before taking the scenic route along the ocean boulevard back to the pier.

Imagine yourself on a voyage through time when seas were full of sailing ships in an exotic land where ships were not only transportation but also works of art. The Samur is an authentic Siamese Junk, hand carved throughout with legends of fantasy and full of superstition fed by rituals thousands of years old. By Zodiac you will be transferred from the cruise ship pier to the Samur. You will set sail and glide smoothly under red sail to the beach of the uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire. During the sail the Captain will give information about the conditions at the reef (which creatures you will find) and the story about the Siamese Sailing Junk. The crew will hand out snorkel gear (sized fins, mask and snorkel and inflatable snorkel vests). Drinks will be served, fruit juices and sodas. After about 45 minutes you will arrive at Klein Bonaire and will be transported by Zodiac to the beach. There you can snorkel from the beach and also have the opportunity to participate on the guided drift snorkel along the outer edge of Ebo's Reef. The comfortable drift snorkel with the light current back to the beach along the reef edge lasts about 20 minutes. Enjoy the pristine white sandy beach of this uninhabited island. You will be at the beach about 1 hour. On the way back to your waiting yacht the crew of this unique ship will pamper you with rum punch, fruit juice, soft drinks and platters of tropical fruits.

You will board your Hyundai Coaster on a sightseeing drive through Willemstad on your way to the Ostrich Farm where you can observe the fascinating behavior of this very special bird. You will see first-hand how an ostrich develops from an egg to the biggest and fastest running bird in the world. You will have a chance to hold an enormous egg or a little fluffy day-old chick. You may even see one hatch.  Also you can feed the birds as they poke their heads into the jeep or jump on the safari truck for a funny interactive guided tour! Then you will be off for the famous Hato Caves. These old coral reefs that actually emerged out of the sea when the island was formed are "living caves;" and centuries-old stalagmites and stalactites are still being formed, a drop at a time. The guided tour will take you along gently sloping trails through the caves' different chambers, past still pools, even a fresh-water waterfall (a very rare sight on this dry island). These caves were once the homes of the Indians.

The unique architecture and special maritime history plus the fact that Curacao is on the famous UNESCO World Heritage list will make this walk a fascinating one! After a short briefing by your guide you will walk to the Rif Fort where the guide will explain the history of the area. On your way to the city center of Punda, with its world famous colored houses, you will cross the St. Anna Bay by public ferry. At the ‘handelskade’ you will find Punda’s shopping area and you will learn about the history of this area. Another of Curacao’s “must see” areas is the famous “floating market” where merchants from Venezuela sell their fruit and vegetables Head to the Maritime Museum where you can see the nautical history of Curaçao. At the end of the tour you can walk back to the ship through Punda on your own, with opportunities for shopping and/or more sight-seeing.

You will be picked up from the ship and board an air-conditioned coach for an informative tour of the island. You will see the rugged beauty of the island’s interior and the contrast of the soft, sandy coast line. You will see how the people of Aruba live and be taken to sights that are off the beaten path.  Highlights of this tour include the California Lighthouse, a structure over 90 feet high, built of local stones, the Ayo Rock Formation, that is the Stone Henge of Aruba. You will be able to climb the rocks to take pictures if you wish.  You will also see Bushiribana, the ruins of one of Aruba’s famous gold mines, and the Natural Bridge, a gorgeous stretch of coral limestone that is 25 feet high and 100 feet long, making it one of the largest in the world.  Other experiences include climbing through the gold ruins, sampling aloe beauty products, and learning about Aruba’s rich cultural history.
