Here’s an excursion that’s safe and loads of fun! These self-drive dinghies are an ideal way to explore the beaches and coves of St. Kitts southeast peninsula, and no boating experience is necessary. Designed for double occupancy, each mini speedboat is a wonderful fun experience. After a safety demonstration, climb aboard and open up the throttle as you skim over the water along the sheltered southeast peninsula. Stop to snorkel in the crystal clear waters and view the rich marine life.  Or perhaps stop at a tiny beach inaccessible by land or by larger boats. You’ll have 2 hours to enjoy as you please before heading back to the pier for refreshments.

Your tour will begin with a narrated drive around historic Basseterre, one the oldest towns in the Eastern Caribbean. You will view Victorian and Georgian style architecture, important monuments such as the Berkeley Memorial Clock Tower, Independence Square (once a former slave market) with its prominent fountain and impressive centuries-old Catholic Co-Cathedral across the street. See the newly restored Fairview Great House & Botanical Garden. Here you will enjoy a guided tour around the Great House, which is believed to have been originally built in 1701 by the French. The inhabitants who have been recorded to reside here include American legal luminary John Gardiner and Lawyer James Stephen –advocate of the enslaved. The rich history of the site and the island is well displayed with its superbly furnished historical information room that brings to life the 1700s – 1800 with true impressions of what life was like on an Estate in St. Kitts during that era. From the cobblestone courtyard view the original kitchen building with its volcanic stone and brick oven; the original bathing room with its large sun warmed volcanic stone bath; the stone bridge leading from the rear veranda of the Great House to the rear area of the tropical botanical garden. While in the courtyard don’t forget to wander into the old stone cellar where you will find a slavery exhibit.  This self guided exhibit provides a glimpse of the African-Caribbean slavery story which began in Africa.  The experience includes details of the journey through the Middle Passage to the Caribbean.  Learn about the life of the slaves on the plantation during the pre and post emancipation period.  You will be given the opportunity to taste several flavors of rum, hear the history of where rum came from in the Caribbean and how Caribbean people made their own rum. Hear stories of when the Irish settled on St. Kitts and the rum legacies they left and how and where rum drinking has evolved on the island. After your rum tasting experience, take time to wander in the 2 ½ acre Botanical Garden. Don’t forget to peek inside the gift shop and pick up some keepsakes that will remind you of this unique experience for years to come.

You will be escorted from the pier to the nearby starting point and after brief formalities you will be given the keys to your rental car. Armed with a map of the island, some suggested itineraries, and some details about historical facts and points of interest, you’re ready to explore this beautiful island at your own pace. The cost is for the car; one to four people can explore at just one rate.

Explore the pristine turquoise waters of Les Saintes during an eco-friendly excursion, aboard a clear-bottom kayak. With a short transfer by boat you will go to the kayaking base. After a safety briefing, begin your guided kayaking tour with your instructor along the most beautiful spot: Le Pain de Sucre. Paddle along the crystal-clear waters, see the exquisite seabed, tropical fishes and marine life. At your return to the base, enjoy a cocktail and return back to the pier. At your return to the base, enjoy a cocktail and free time on the beach. At your disposal are a beach chair, snorkeling equipment, kayak and others. You will head back to the pier by boat.

Fort Napoleon has a rich history and is the setting for some of the most dramatic harbor views in the Caribbean. Join your English-speaking guide at the pier where a private shuttle will bring you to the gate at the top of Napoleon Hill. Afternoon entry to the fort allows a more intimate opportunity to enjoy the history of the fort, its gardens, and eclectic museum collection depicting life on the island over the last 2500 years. Following your guided tour of these areas, you will retreat to the original fort’s kitchen where you will sample a variety of local, iconic foods including the famous local cakes. No Windstar tour in the Caribbean would be complete without a taste of rum and today you will sample the “Sun Rum” mixed on the island. Depart from the pier with your guide by small bus to explore Terre-de-Haut. Drive through the village with its multicolored houses and Catholic Church towards the Caribbean coast. First photo stop on one of the most beautiful places of the Archipelago, Le Pain de Sucre, a 164-foot volcanic hill above sea level, whose steep slopes fall into Les Saintes Bay. Discover the cemetery made up of shells and look for iguanas. Then take pictures at Grande Anse Beach, well-known for the concert that nature offers when the waves crash.  See the small airport where pilots must hold a special clearance and the panoramic view on Marigot Bay with its turquoise water.

This adventure will traverse Dominica’s mountainous interior and the Morne Trois Pitons National Park World Heritage Site, skirts the slopes of steaming rainforests, crosses countless rivers and dramatic gorges, and offers spectacular breathtaking panoramas.  You will board your coach for the 30-minute drive to Fresh Water Lake, often drenched in mist and tranquility. The 90-minute walk along a thin roller-coaster-loop-trail and along ridges will provide beautiful panoramas of the lake and surrounding area.  Then, you will journey further inland to the Boeri Lake and a 2-hour (return) hike along hilly and stony terrain through thick rainforest. The trail to this mountain crater is wild and full of bright colored blooms and pristine vegetation and surface streams. Chirping birds fuel this already energetic walk. At the lake you will enjoy a brief rest to recharge before heading back to your tour vehicle. You will have a picnic lunch and head for the Titou Gorge for a short swim up through a narrow opening to a waterfall that is guaranteed to provide an adrenalin rush. You will be required to wear a life vest for this swim.  And then you will head back to your waiting yacht.

Depart the port for a short drive through the residential area of Vigie which was established by the French in 1745, and a military headquarters on Vigie Height. Drive up to the Vigie Lighthouse offering a panoramic view of the Castries Harbour, Morne Fortune and the Tapion Reef, as well a view of vessels visiting Port Castries. Vigie Lighthouse is an exceptionally unique experience. Built in 1914 the lighthouse was once a guiding light for the French and British soldiers who fought over St. Lucia 14 times. Depart the Vigie Light House for a drive to the Married Women’s Quarters and Meadows Battery. One of the 50 defenses collectively built by the French and British to protect Castries Harbour, Meadows Battery was constructed in 1898 and sits at the northern entrance. The ruins include a bathhouse, married women’s quarters, bunkers, an armory for artillery shells and this 2-tier battery platform overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The Married Women’s Quarters is an important part of St. Lucian military history. It was completed in 1900 and abandoned in 1905. Depart for a drive to the Vigie Beach for some relaxation time, swimming or soaking up the sun on your lounge chair. Depart Vigie Beach for the drive back to the port and your waiting yacht.

The Slaves Savannah is situated at Trois Ilets village in South Martinique. It is a reproduction of the slaves village created by Gilbert Larose in order to pay homage to escaped slaves before their independence between 1850 and 1900. You will visit a little museum dedicated to the slaves’ history in Martinique, with an exhibition of statues carved in "mahogany wood" illustrating the stages of their lives during this period. You will discover hut replicas in wood, with roofs made of sugar cane leaves where slaves lived. You will have an opportunity to learn about the lifestyle of the time. You will visit a traditional Creole garden, seeing fruits and vegetables farming, sweet potatoes, manioc, guava, and bananas. Your guide will show you the medicinal plants with their virtues as it was essential for the life and survival of the ancestors from Martinique living in camps. Your guide will show you how to make the traditional "baton kako" (stick of cocoa) with roasted and peeled cocoa beans, used in the West Indies in numerous typical foods. A unique exhibition!!

Continuing on, you will head for Mopion – an islet resembling an atoll in the South Pacific surrounded by a reef lagoon. Upon arrival to Mopion, your mind will be set back decades, as this perfect setting is the antidote for the stresses of everyday life. You’ll have time afterwards to explore the gift shop just before continuing on to Grenada Distillers. You will be welcomed at Grenada Distillers by friendly and knowledgeable guides who will explain the history and all the different processes and stages of making their fine rum from a factory that has been in operation since 1937. After the tour, you will be invited to sample their award-winning rums at the sample bar.  From the Grenada Distillers you will drive back to the port.

You will be collected from the jetty next to your yacht’s dock. Climb aboard the twin engine powerboat and enjoy a fun adventure. After a short safety briefing you will head north along Grenada’s sheltered western coast. During your tour you will learn about the Spice Isle and also information on the ecology, wildlife, geography and local history of Grenada. The boat will stop for approximately 40 minutes so snorkelers can explore with a guide the world-famous underwater sculpture park of Grenada now listed as one of the Top 25 Wonders of the World by National Geographic. Non-snorkelers are free to stay on board with your captain.  After the snorkel enjoy a local juice before zooming off for another hour of fun, exploring, and great photo opportunities. Your tour will visit the historic town of St. Georges where you cruise the protected inner harbor of one of the prettiest towns in the Caribbean, before one last blast back to the dock to disembark.

Then you will sail to Mango Bay Beach for a second stop before a one hour sailing back to the cruise terminal.
 
Please note: Unlimited beverages are provided throughout, including rum punch, juices, and mineral water. Half of the boat has shade. You must walk in ankle-deep water to (dis)embark the boat. Wear aqua shoes and your swimsuit under your clothing, bring a towel, sunscreen, and a hat. Mask, snorkel, and snorkel vest are provided (No fins). Rum punch will be served only after the snorkeling.
 

 
 

Enjoy a scenic drive from the port to Fort Hamilton where there are beautiful views of the harbor of Port Elizabeth. A wonderful location to take memorable pictures of your visit. Then you will drive to Lower Bay Beach where you will get a beach chair and choice of a local rum punch, local beer or soft drink (juice). Relax on the beach, take a swim and enjoy a few hours relaxing in the sun until it is time to return to the port.
