5 HoursModerate-StrenuousOutdoors | Walking | Sightseeing | Essentials Collection
You will sail to Fort De France by ferry, where you will stop in the city center and your cabriolet bus will wait for you. Enjoy a short sightseeing tour discovering downtown, with a panoramic view, appreciating its traditional covered market and some monuments. Then you will drive 30 minutes to reach the Balata Church, a mini replica of the Sacred Heart Basilica of Montmartre in Paris, built in 1925. Situated on the peak of Fort de France, it offers a panoramic view of the city and its bay. You will head to the botanical garden which has been opened to the public, after 20 years of flower and plant collection and of grounds preparation by the owner, Mr Jean Philppe Thoze, a botanical and landscape gardener. You will walk under the trees and discover the multitude of botanical plants and flowers harmoniously placed. If you want, you will have the opportunity to discover this paradise by a suspension bridge. Seen from above, the garden is even more exceptional, along with the views on Fort de France Bay and Pitons of Carbet. The reception hall there is located in an authentic Creole house which has been entirely renovated. You will return to your ship by ferry.
Please note: Wear good walking shoes, sun protection, a cap, and bring euros for currency in down town Fort de France. US dollars are accepted at the garden. Most shops are closed in Fort de France on Sundays.
