Your tour departs from the port for the 1-hour drive to reach Montserrat, a peculiar rocky mountain range which is the site of the monastery where people come to worship “La Moreneta,” the black Madonna who is the patron-virgin of Catalonia.  The Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat was founded in the 11th century and is located in a natural park 37 miles west of Barcelona. Besides visiting the Benedictine Abbey Monastery, you will admire also the Patron of Catalonia, Saint Mary of Montserrat that is worshiped at the shrine in the Monastery. The Benedictine community, now numbering some 80 monks, has served the shrine for almost 1,000 years. They are dedicated to a life of prayer, to working and to welcoming pilgrims, making the site a place for dialogue, prayer and culture. In addition to the monks, the escolans also live in Montserrat. They form the oldest boys choir in Europe ( and might be available during the visit).  You will be given a tour of the monastery, and have some free time before taking the coach back to the Windstar hotel.

Watch for Casa Batlló, an iconic Barcelona landmark and Casa Mila. You will drive by one of Gaudí’s masterpieces – the Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) Church (outside visit). This is a site not to be missed. Though construction was started in 1882 it is still unfinished. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the most-visited building in Barcelona, and immediately identifies the city around the world. From here you’ll head up to the viewpoint in Montjuic with the most exceptional views of Barcelona and its impressive harbor.

Discover the essence of the Andalusian region visiting one of the most charming and well-known villages of the famous Costa del Sol, Mijas. After a 45-minute panoramic drive, the coach will bring you to the bottom of this white village, where the narrow streets will take you to the upper point of the village.  You will have a 1-hour, 45-minute guided walking tour of Mijas where you will want to take pictures of the sites, including the Bullfight ring. Also the panorama of the valley will delight all your photographers. Once you have visited the village, you will have your gastronomic experience in a local Restaurant, Secret Garden, where you will be able to taste two kinds of wine, accompanied by delicious Spanish Jamón and cheese tapas. Then, you will have about 45 minutes of free time to either relax in the lovely patio and garden of the restaurant , enjoy a nice walk in Mijas or for those who think that their walk is over, there is still the option of touring the village on the back of a donkey taxi (not included in the price of this tour), before boarding your coach to return to Malaga.

Those of you who delight in ancient history and art lovers cannot miss this tour! With half a million inhabitants, Málaga is located in the center of the Costa del Sol. From the outside you will admire the beautiful architecture of the Alcazaba Fortress, a historic castle built in the 11th century to be the residence of the Arabian Caliphs or Kings. It is connected by a step path to Gibralfaro Castle, an ancient Moorish fortress with breathtaking views of the city and its bay. Buses will take you to the castle so you won’t have to walk up the hill. The Museo Picasso Málaga is run by the Fundación Museo Picasso de Málaga and the Fundación Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso. The Fundación Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso is the rightful owner of the collection there, whereas the Fundación Museo Picasso de Málaga owns the group of buildings that holds it. As was initially agreed by the donors, the two foundations are responsible for the conservation, exhibition, study and diffusion of the collection. At the museum, you will be able to appreciate all Picasso styles and techniques (Painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramic and graphic works in an exhibition with 155 works ranging from 1890 up to 1973.

You'll begin your ride (after an introduction to the operation of the Segway) at Plaza de la Marina, in the center of Málaga. Continue to Larios Street, the main shopping avenue of the city, then on to Merced Square, at the end of Calle Alcazabilla, to see the obelisk erected as a tribute to General Torrijos, currently the headquarters of the Picasso Foundation. Next you will ride to the Santiago Church, built on the site of a former mosque and Málaga's oldest church (founded in 1490). You’ll also visit the Roman Theatre, discovered in 1951, which was built in the time of Caesar Augustus and used until the 3rd century A.D. After that time, it was used as a quarry by the Moors to restore the Alcazaba, which is the next stop on your tour. This impressive building, constructed mainly in the 11th century, was the palace/fortress of the ruling Muslims. Continuing on your tour, you’ll see the Catedral de la Encarnacion, Bishop Square, and the Paseo del Parque, before returning to Marina Square.

You will board your minivan quayside and travel past the American War Memorial and the headquarters of the remaining British Naval forces in Gibraltar as you head toward Europa Point.Here you will have a photo opportunity of the beautiful Straits and the Bay of Gibraltar, the Spanish mainland and the African continent. You will proceed to the Upper Rock area to visit St. Michael’s Cave and the famous Barbary Apes. You will drive past the Moorish Castle and the Tower of Homage to enter the Upper Town area’s narrow streets.

You will board your minivan quayside for the short ride to the Cable Car Base Station.  Your cable car will take you to the Top Station perched on the summit of “The Rock,” for a breathtaking view as you are suspended in mid-air. At the Top Station your guide will show you around the geography of this British colony.  Then you will travel to the Middle Station and the sanctuary of Gibraltar’s old inhabitants, the Barbary Apes, roaming free around this station.  Reboard your coach for a 5-minute drive to Princess Caroline’s Battery and the entrance to the Great Siege Tunnels, a system of tunnels carved out of solid limestone.  Proceed to the Gibraltar Museum with its enormous amount of artifacts on display.

Upon arrival, staff of the estate will welcome you and  introduce you to the interesting world of olive oil, one of the main products of Andalusia, known worldwide for its healthy properties and full flavor. You will visit the olive grove, the family museum and the facilities ending with an olive oil tasting where you will learn the characteristics that make this oil unique. Continue to the nearby village of Carmona which is built on a hill that dominates the green Guadalquivir plain. Featuring a fantastic mixture of the cultures concentrated in the village: Baroque churches, Arab architecture and the well -known Roman necropolis. Well worth seeing are the Greco-Roman Puerta de Sevilla (city gate); the remains of the Moorish-style fortress, as well as the picturesque streets in the center lined with whitewashed houses, walls and balconies of wrought iron. Return to the pier on your coach after an approximate 45-minute drive.

Board your air-conditioned bus for the 45-minute trip to Valença do Minho, a walled town located on the left bank of the Minho River.  Your walking tour will take you past Gothic and Renaissance residences, and offer superb views of the quiet Minho River which you will cross. On the other side of the river stands the Spanish town of Tui with its Cathedral built on top of a small hill. See Valença's fortress, a piece of Gothic and Baroque military architecture. The first walls were built in the 13th century. It was upgraded during the 17th and 18th centuries forming the present bulwarked system, placed on top of two small hills and formed by two polygons which are separated by a ditch and with four doors (Coroada, Gaviarra, Fonte da Vila and Sol). The main entrance is Porta do Sol (Sun's door). Within the fort is the old town full of small shops selling items, particularly textiles, which you will have time to browse through. From there, board your bus to finish your visit in Vigo admiring El Castro de Vigo (the Castro Fortress).

You will be driven to the Village of Combarro, where you’ll make your way to the seaside, passing through the village’s narrow streets. You will have the opportunity to see the two main structures of the area. The first one, Horreo is the most common construction in Galicia used for ripening, drying and storing grain.  The second one is a Batea which is a floating dock, used for mussel farming. You will have free time to discover on your own and take pictures.  Later, you will visit the charming town of El Grove, and board a small boat for a trip along the estuary. You will learn all about mussel farming, the main economy of this area that has made it quite famous. You'll be able to taste fresh boiled mussels and a delicious white wine or soft drinks while enjoying a marvelous view of the estuary. Return back to Vigo after your tour.

For those of you who have a special taste for wine, this tour will take you to the heart of Galician wines.You will board your deluxe motor coach for the 45-minute drive to Cambados, considered a Property of Cultural Interest.  Drive to The Parador, an ancient mansion, now hotel, built in the 17th century and located in the center of the small village. The Parador overlooks the Ria de Arousa, the largest of the estuaries of Galicia.  Here you will enjoy a wine and tapas tasting as well as some leisure time on your own to walk around Cambados. Then you will take a short 15-minute drive to Agro de Bazan Cellars, known for their high quality wines made only with the Albariño grape, an aromatic, long-standing grape native to the Salnes Valley. Take a tour of the winery before tasting their delicious wine accompanied by a snack.

Begin your exploration of El Ferrol with a panoramic drive in your air-conditioned bus. You will continue on to Betanzos where you will be met by your guide. Declared a Joint Historical and Artistic Heritage in 1970, Betanzos is home to one of the most interesting old quarters of Galicia. The large city guards artistic treasures of incalculable value.  Your walking tour will include sites like the Consistorial Palace, raised in the 18th century by Luck Rodriguez and surrounded by palaces and buildings with galleries. See the Palace of Bendana, constructed in the 15th century. You will see the 11th century Church of Santiago, and the Palace of Lanzós, constructed around 1620. Your stroll with continue to the Gothic District, the Palace of Counts de Taboada and the impressive churches of Santa Maria and San Francisco (external view) , jewels of Gothic Gallego constructed by Fernán the Perez de Andrade in the  14th century, one of the most beautiful examples of the Galician medieval architecture. After this guided visit you will have some of free time before returning to your yacht.

Santiago, the city where, according to a legend, the remains of the apostle Saint James were found is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Board your motor coach where you will meet your guide who will impart some of the region's history on your 75-minute drive to Santiago. Once in Santiago, your walking tour will begin. You’ll see a town full of  life, with one of the most famous universities, a reputation for the best seafood in Galicia and an enormous amount of culture. You will enter the Cathedral of Santiago. The present building was begun in 1075. It is a key Romanesque work in which numerous architectonic styles converge. Highlights of the Cathedral include the Portico de la Gloria constructed in 1188, the Obradoiro façade of the Cathedral ,considered one of the greatest expressions of the Spanish Baroque period., the Main Altar also in the Baroque style and the crypt of the Apostle St. James located beneath it. Following your visit to the Cathedral, you will walk through the quiet streets and picturesque squares of Santiago, admiring the Plaza del Obradoiro, the real heart of the town and where the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, a 17th century building declared National Monument,  is located.   You will also see  the Palacio Rajoy, an enormous and elegant neoclassic building near the Cathedral.  A 4-course lunch with wine will be served at Parador Reyes Catolicos situated near the Cathedral and also declared a National Monument. Following lunch, you  will  be shown how a queimada is made including the spell and lighting of the liquid by  the wizard. On your return trip to El Ferrol , you will be able to admire the impressive Galician landscape of the coastline full of wide beaches and large marshes.

You will begin your adventure with a  1-hour panoramic drive from El Ferrol to the city of A Coruña.  Admire the Riazor and Orzen beaches, the House of Mankind (a work of Japanese architect Arata Isozaki), and the Aquarium Finisterrae.  You will have time to take some photos at the Tower of Hercules, built in the 2nd  century by the Emperor Trajan and the oldest Roman lighthouse in the world and, unbelievably, still in use today. Re-board the coach and follow the coastline past the window houses that gave A Coruña its Crystal City nickname. Watch for the Archaeological Museum housed in San Anton Castle and the Mendez Nuñez Gardens. Next, you will  leave your motor coach and make your way on foot down the narrow cobblestone streets to Plaza Maria Pita, a vast pedestrian square surrounded by terraced cafés and arcades. Delight in the friendly and social atmosphere of a local Spanish bar, where you will be treated to tapas - snacks of local cheese, crusty homemade bread, cured ham and local specialties complemented by Galician wine. Tapas are a very important part of Spanish culture and are often enjoyed by locals at the pub with a glass of wine or during a quick stop at a restaurant between meals. Afterward, walk the short distance back to the harbor with your guide or take the opportunity to browse on your own in the quaint Old Town before returning to the pier at your leisure.

Visit the ceramic factory of Sargadelos, the greatest example of Galician pottery worldwide and stroll through the charming streets of the Roman town of Betanzos. The history of Sargadelos Ceramics illustrates 200 years of constant innovation. After your visit to the Sargadelos factory, you will continue to the Roman town of Betanzos for a guided walk through its charming historic streets. You’ll visit the Santa María de Azogue and St. Francisco Church and enjoy some free time to explore the village independently before returning to Ferrol..

Lugo is the only city in the world surrounded completely by intact Roman walls, with heights ranging between 33 to 49 feet in a 6949-foot circle with 71 towers. The walk along the top is continuous around the circuit, and features 10 gates. These 3rd century walls are protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will board your air-conditioned bus for the 90-minute drive to Lugo where you will be met by your English-speaking guide to begin your walking tour.  In addition to the walls other sites include the Cathedral, built about 1129, though the actual main facade and towers date only from 1769. You will see the convent and church of St. Francis, built in Gothic style, currently housing the Museo Provincial, with a display of Galician art and 18th century architecture. Your walk will continue on to the Church of St. Dominic, the Palace of the Arts and the Town Hall, a large Baroque structure with a mid-18th century façade. After the guided visit you will have some free time for shopping. Then you will enjoy a delicious lunch in the Hostal Porta de Santiago.

The area offers almost 124 miles (200 km) of white sandy beaches, one after the other, coves hidden amidst marshlands, estuaries, and dunes. Stunning landscapes where the sea blends with the mountains, make the whole area a paradise of contrasts waiting to be discovered.  Equestrian tourism is an enjoyable, original, different way to discover the land. The activity is planned to be developed in small groups according to each rider’s skills. Castro Urdiales - also known as Flavióbriga after the Roman settlement which stood here, has all the charm of a small seafaring and fishing village, with a rich tradition and tourist atmosphere. The town center, with its characteristic houses with wooden rows of balconies, is medieval in origin and earned recognition as a Historic Site in 1978. Its main monuments, of different styles and periods, contrast with the sobriety of the old village, formed by narrow streets which are perfect for strolling through. The buildings of the church of Santa María, from the 13th to the 15th centuries, the most significant example of Cantabria's Gothic architecture, and the castle-lighthouse, visible from all parts of town, are the most representative sights in Castro Urdiales (outside visit of both monuments).

Pintxos are a truly Basque delight you can enjoy, exploring the culinary secrets or just mingling in the hustle and bustle of the streets. You will take a guided visit to the old quarter, a perfect place for strolling a series of shops, bars, restaurants and squares. The narrow streets of Bilbao's Old Town or Casco Viejo give off an age-old atmosphere. This historical corner, rebuilt after the 1983 floods, is one of the most alive and dearly loved areas of a city which is full of contrasts. Divided into smaller groups or with a maximum of 30 people, each group will be escorted by an English speaking guide.  You will enjoy a Tapas tour and have the opportunity of tasting the delicious “pintxos.”  This is the name used for the local tapas, which are small portions of elaborate dishes, a very traditional way of enjoying dinner in Bilbao.

You will board your motor coach at the pier and drive along the famous Quai des Chartrons, the center of the Bordeaux wine trade. Your tour of Médoc will start just north of the city. The Medoc Wine Road, located between the Gironde estuary and the Landes forest, will provide magnificent views of vine-covered gravelly rises as far as the eye can see. You will have the opportunity to take photos of some of the most famous Châteaux of the area such as Margaux, and Pichon Longueville.  Médoc vineyards are orderly and well-kept almost to the point of fanaticism, and the region's world famous châteaux produce wine that are nothing short of divine... Moulis, Listrac, Saint Julien, Saint Estèphe, Pauillac, Médoc, Haut Médoc and Margaux (with the celebrated château of the same name). You will be able to visit the cellars of one of these famous châteaux -  Giscours, Lynch Bages, Siran,Lagrange, Dauzac, Desmirail, Camensac,Palmer, Issan, Kirwan, Prieuré Lichine, Rausan Ségla, or d'Arsac. You will learn the techniques of wine making during your visit of the cellars and before a wine tasting.

Please note: There will be stairs to get to the chateau cellar. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

There can be no better place to start a visit to this attractive region than Saint Emilion, heartland of the merlot grape, which produces delicious, rich, round wines. The vines on the "hill with a thousand châteaux," reach right up to Saint Emilion's 13th century town walls and surrounding moat dug out of solid rock.  You will stop at one of the nearby wine chateaux and will learn the techniques of wine making during your visit to their cellar and enjoy a wine tasting. Arriving in the village, your guide will take you for a walking tour to see the main attractions: the Collegiale Church and its magnificent cloister from the 12th century, the Ramparts, the Market Place, and the Monolithic Church. Strolling in the streets, you will also see the Cadene Gate and the King's Tower. Then, you will have some time at leisure for exploring the village on your own.

Please note:  The order of sites visited may vary. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended as well as a warm garment.  Some of the walk is difficult on steep cobblestone streets  and not recommended for people with mobility issues.

Depart by coach from the ship for a panoramic drive of Bordeaux, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. This distinction recognizes the beauty and unity of style of Bordeaux's architectural heritage, which has developed harmoniously over the centuries and remains remarkably well-preserved. Discover the city’s major highlights : the Chartrons Riverfront where the wine trade started, L’Esplanade des Quinconces  which is one of Europe’s largest squares with its column commemorating the French Revolution, the 18th century Place de la Bourse, the Cailhau Gate (15th century), the Big Bell (14th century), the Palais Rohan (18th century) now the City Hall, the St. Andrew Cathedral (13th century )  where Alienor d'Aquitaine married Louis VII and the Grand Theatre (18th century), the Bordeaux Opera built by Victor Louis in 1773. Then, to continue your discovery of Bordeaux’s history and culture, you will drive to a nearby vineyard surrounding Bordeaux  and highlighting its really famous heritage: the wine culture. You will stop at one of the prestigious estates to visit their cellars, be introduced to the art of wine making and enjoy a wine tasting before heading back to your ship.
