Stroll through the park’s International Cocoa Collection—the only one of its kind in the region—where you’ll see various cacao plants and learn how this treasured ingredient is cultivated and transformed. Sample the raw cocoa fruit straight from the pod and enjoy a guided tasting of traditionally prepared chocolate.

Next, gear up for a guided horseback ride through the heart of the rainforest. Led by expert local guides, this peaceful yet adventurous journey takes you along scenic jungle trails, across gentle streams, and to natural viewpoints that reveal the area’s vibrant flora and fauna. It’s an unforgettable way to connect with nature and experience the region’s biodiversity up close.

Conclude your adventure with a beer tasting session, sampling four different Costa Rican craft beers, each paired with a typical local snack. Non-alcoholic options are also available. Relax and savor this refreshing end to your day before your return journey to the ship.

Departing from Punta Leona, journey inland toward the Mid-Pacific region to explore the remarkable Carara National Park—an ecological bridge between Costa Rica’s dry northwest and lush southern Pacific coast. Your adventure begins along the park’s Universal Trail, a specially designed accessible path featuring tactile maps, Braille signage, animal sculptures, and interactive audiovisual stations, all crafted to make the rainforest experience inclusive for everyone.

After your guided walk through this biodiverse forest, continue to the nearby Tárcoles River for a scenic boat cruise. The riverbanks are home to over 250 species of birds, as well as one of the largest crocodile colonies in Central America—some reaching up to three meters in length. Keep your eyes open for herons, egrets, and other tropical wildlife that thrive in this rich ecosystem.

Before returning to the ship, enjoy a refreshing snack of seasonal fruits and natural juice, along with some free time to browse for local souvenirs.

Departing from Punta Leona, take a scenic drive to the Tropical Forest Sky Walk, located near the edge of Carara Biological National Park. Begin your nature adventure with a gentle walk leading to three suspended bridges that span between 270 and 330 feet in length, offering a unique perspective high above the forest canopy—up to 126 feet above the ground. As you explore, enjoy panoramic views of the rainforest, the Tarcoles River marshlands, and even the distant Pacific Ocean. Your naturalist guide will help you spot tropical birds, butterflies, monkeys, and other native wildlife.

Afterward, visit Santa Lucia, a charming village designed to showcase traditional Costa Rican architecture and lifestyle. Here, you’ll enjoy a refreshing tropical fruit buffet and cold beverages before continuing your adventure.

Next, climb aboard a tractor-drawn wagon for a ride through lush landscapes and across the clear waters of the Tarcolitos River. This relaxing journey offers opportunities to spot colorful toucans, scarlet macaws, howler and spider monkeys, and other fascinating creatures that inhabit this vibrant ecosystem.

Before returning to the ship, take a moment to appreciate the tranquil sounds of the rainforest and capture some memorable photos of the river and its surroundings.

Have you ever wanted to be a cowboy or sabanero, riding freely across boundless fields, and herding cattle under the open sky? At Hacienda Aromal, your dream comes alive! This unique adventure offers immersion in natural beauty, personalized services, authentic facilities, and a professional staff. You'll have a brief safety introduction upon arrival at Hacienda Aromal before your horseback riding journey begins.  After the safety briefing, you'll be accompanied by experienced sabaneros in traditional attire and explore the wildlife-rich trails spotting deer, armadillos, raccoons, anteaters, and tropical birds. Your horseback ride will take you through lush countryside and genuine savannahs before participating in herding cattle and horses into different paddocks! Your tour will start with Panama Viejo, where you can enjoy Old Panama, the first European settlement on the Pacific coast of the Americas. This city was looted and destroyed by the notorious English buccaneer Henry Morgan in 1671 and therefore abandoned. Today there are only ruins left. Still, the tower of the ancient cathedral is standing and has become a landmark of the town. After Old Panama, you will take a panoramic tour enjoying the views of modern Panama City. On the way to Casco Antiguo you will travel along the Cinta Costera and the lively and vibrant banking district often compared to Miami. Your guide will show you Panama City’s colonial quarter. At the Casco Antiguo you feel you have been set back in time as you admire the lovely colonial houses, the narrow roads and the impressive churches. You will get a good idea of Panama’s history by walking through the main attractions of this quarter. Stroll this 337-year-old neighborhood under the warm golden glow ofthe fading sun and see the beautiful Plaza de Francia, Metropolitan Cathedral, among others. Casco Antiguo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as a place of the non-stop ambiance of history, culture, nightlife, and restaurants. At the end of this tour, you will be transferred to the Windstar Hotel.
