Step aboard your air-conditioned coach and enjoy a drive through Bridgetown, the capital city before heading north through historic Holetown, where the first settlers landed in 1627.  Along the way you will also see many of the splendid hotels, restaurants and homes that are scattered through the area - also known as the Gold Coast. Continue north to St. Nicholas Abbey in the parish of St. Peter. The Abbey was built in 1660 and is one of only three genuine Jacobean mansions in the Western Hemisphere.  It was recently extensively refurbished and you can view the distinguishing features of this magnificent, well-preserved mansion: curved Dutch gables, chimney stacks and coral stone finials, a Chinese Chippendale staircase and fine antiques and china. A rare 1930s film of sugar plantation life can also be viewed. You will have excellent photo opportunities of the sweeping Atlantic coastline. Following your visit of St. Nicholas Abbey you will continue through the countryside and head towards the east coast along Cherry Tree Hill with its breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. As you look down you will catch a glimpse of the Historic Morgan Lewis Windmill, one of the only two intact and restored sugar mills in the Caribbean. The other is at Betty's Hope Estate located on Antigua. Be sure to have your camera as you will definitely want to capture the view. Continue your island exploration where your drive will take you south along the east coast of the island for panoramic views of the ocean and the rugged Atlantic coastline until you reach Bathsheba where you will have a brief stop. A visit to Barbados is not complete without a visit to this idyllic spot which is a photographer’s paradise! Through quaint and sweeping country villages, you will make your way back to the Port.

Make your way to Mount Gay Visitor’s Centre, home of the world famous Mount Gay 300-year-old rum.  Rum is more than a social lubricant on the island of Barbados. It’s the history, culture, and essence of the island poured over ice. Barbados is considered the birthplace of rum, and Mount Gay Distillery—founded in 1703—is believed to be the oldest rum found anywhere in the world. For three centuries sailors and seamen have sipped its amber silk, and during a visit to Mount Gay you can literally taste the history that has shaped Barbados’ past. You will be taken on a guided tour of the aging facility and learn how rum is made in a state of the art facility.  No visit is complete without sampling these famous spirits.

On this tour you will explore the southern areas of Barbados, starting with a scenic drive along the bustling South Coast area, driving right through the capital and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bridgetown and its surrounding Garrison. You will also pass through the famous fishing village of Oistins, known for its nightly fish fries and a favorite spot for tourists and locals alike. From here you will continue along the coastline slowly heading in an easterly direction. Your first stop will be at the East Point Lighthouse. From this vantage point you can see all the way up the rugged East Coast on a clear day. The various bays and the spectacle the crushing waves provide are not to be missed. Make your way along the rugged East Coast, passing the serene Codrington College along the way. A picture stop at Bathsheba will allow you to enjoy the fresh clean air and the cool breezes coming off the Atlantic Ocean. Of course there are plenty more photo opportunities here as well. Next you will head inland and up the hill into the heart of the island to Flower Forest, where the flora and fauna of the Island can be seen in their natural splendor. Imagine yourself walking on a winding path through a magnificent forest - created by nature but gently nudged by man. Enjoy a rum punch or fruit juice after your Flower Forest visit. Your return drive will be a scenic ride across the country side where you will come across many small villages with their friendly locals and pass Gun Hill Signal Station, as well as the residences of the Prime Minister and the Governor General before entering the capital Bridgetown and then re-entering the port.

Take your time to see the stages of rum making and explore the historic buildings as well as the folk museum. You will then have the opportunity to sample five of the amazing rums produced here. From here you will make your way towards the South Coast of Barbados to your next stop at DreadHop Brewing. At this unique location, the local DreadHop beer is being brewed and served. Learn all about the process before it’s time to sample some of the different beers, all inspired by the surroundings. Your scenic return drive will take you through the charming fishing village of Oistins and then past the historic Garrison area, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
