Come and join a 1-hour ATV tour around the volcano in Vestmannaeyjar and experience the unique view the island and its surroundings. During the trip, you will go to PrestvikB beach where the fishing ship Pelagus stranded. You will also drive around and view the scene where Guðlaugur Friðþórsson reached land after 4 miles (6 km) of swimming in the dark and cold sea after the trawler Hellisey VE 503 sank. You will drive around the lava and into the middle of the crater of the volcano Eldfell before heading along the coast, where the view is breathtaking. This trip is recommended for all who enjoy driving around the historical sites of Vestmannaeyjar in a unique way, riding an ATV. The ATV´s are automatic and easy to drive so no specific experience is needed. All ATV´s are for 2 persons.

This exclusive tour contains the ultimate adventure, a combination of helicopter flightseeing and snowmobiling on Iceland’s 4th largest glacier, Mýrdalsjökull. You will depart from the main island of Vestmannaeyjar and fly over the islands of the archipelago before heading to the mainland. Among other wonders of Iceland’s nature you will see Eyjafjallajökull glacier, the volcano that erupted in 2010 and brought the world to a halt for a few days. You might catch a glimpse of Mountain Hekla, which is one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes with over 20 eruptions since the time of settlement in 874. Mýrdalsjökullwill be your destination,and after landing you will have a short lesson on safety procedures and how to operate the snowmobile. The Westman Islands are renowned for their birdlife and interesting geological history. You will walk to the RIB boat location where you will have a brief introduction to RIBs before your safari begins. You will travel into some of the caves around the area, such as the Eider Duck Cave, whose name derives from the eider duck colony nearby. You will visit a huge and extremely deep cave with beautiful basalt columns decorating the walls. You will also see a small cave where the sunlight shines through, creating a mesmerizing interplay of light and water. The final cave you will see is the roomy Cliff Cave with its excellent acoustics.

Please note: While wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, whales are sometimes sighted on this tour, including orca, dolphins and porpoises. Seydisfjord is 11 miles of long, narrow, beautiful waterway surrounded by high mountains that ends at the town of Seydisfjordur, known for its old multi-colored wooden buildings and cascading waterfalls even in the town. This is home of the Skalanes Nature Reserve with its wide variety of wildlife including more than 45 bird species. The first high-voltage electricity in Iceland was opened here in 1913 and is still in operation today. Here is a unique opportunity to visit one of Iceland’s most remote places. You will drive to Thorarinsstadir, an important archaeological farm site. Then you will continue your drive through a green valley surrounded by high mountains. The valley is dotted with lonely looking abandoned farms that remind the traveller that this peaceful landscape was once home to farmers and their families. Then on to Skalanes Nature Reserve, where you will have a guided tour of the site where the Icelandic environment and cultural history can be researched and interpreted while maintaining a model for sustainable tourism. The area is home to about 47 different species of birds during the summer and sometimes seals or reindeer can be spotted and on rare occasions a whale can be seen off the coast. The nature surrounding the town of Seydisfjordur is a spellbinding display of waterfalls, mountains, and the ocean. This guided walk will take you on a hike up to a part of the Vestdalur Valley near Seydisfjordur. The valley is a protected nature reserve due to its remarkable flora. Eventually you will reach the abandoned town of Vestdalseyri, where you will find ruins of the former town. The town was inhabited for roughly a century (1851-1963). Originally there was a whaling station and it was home to one of the largest cooperatives in the country. Despite its beautiful and sunny location the town declined with the last inhabitant leaving it in 1963. You will walk past a series of beautiful waterfalls that will provide ideal photo opportunities, then return back to the coach and return to the pier.

Akureyri is an important port and fisheries center especially because of its ice-free harbor so close to the Arctic Circle. The journey commences from the town of Akureyri along the coastline of Eyjafjörður Fjord. After a drive through lush and fertile farmlands, you’ll reach Goðafoss, “Waterfall of the Gods.” The name refers to an important historical event that took place in the year 1000. After a time of friction and fights between the Christian and pagan people of the young nation the Althing decided that an official religion of the country had to be decided in order to maintain peace. The leader of the Althing, the pagan chieftain Thorgeir Thorkelsson, made a public declaration in favor of the Christian faith. When Thorgeir returned home he threw his pagan icons of the Nordic gods into the waterfall in a symbolic gesture.
From Goðafoss return to the charming town of Akureyri that is colorfully framed by the sea and the mountains. Continue with a short sightseeing tour through the old quarter of Akureyri. Akureyri has long been the economic and cultural center of Northern Iceland. Its importance as such can be seen in the architecture of many of the town’s older buildings that bear a strong Danish influence from the time that Iceland was part of the Danish kingdom. Your last stop on this tour is the Akureyri Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden was founded in 1912 and it grows every species indigenous to Iceland as well as an extensive collection of high-latitude and high-altitude plants from around the world. Experience getting up close to the incredible humpback whales of the Eyjafjörður Fjord, a place of serene beauty and marine life, framed by glacier-carved and snow-capped mountains. The Eyjafjörður Fjord is narrow and deep and is perfect for the small RIB boats that depart from Akureyri pier. With only 12 guests per boat the RIB boats will allow you to get closer to the whales and wildlife than any other boat can offer. The boats are small and fast which means you can cover a larger area as you search for wildlife. This allows for an increased chance of spotting whales, dolphins and bird life. Like all wild nature experiences, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, the potential for whale watching from Akureyri is excellent and has a 95% success rate for spotting whales. Many species have been sighted here, including blue-fin, humpback, minke and sei whales.

Vigur is a lovely island and the nesting ground for countless birds and the home of farmers whose family has lived there since 1884. You will board a boat for the 30-minute trip to Vigur where you will take a leisurely walk around the island with a perfect opportunity to see birds like Eider ducks in their natural environment. The farmer protects the nests and uses the down that the ducks pluck from their chests. You will see Iceland’s oldest windmill, built in 1840 and a 200-year-old rowboat still used to ferry sheep to the mainland. You will visit the Viktoria House, restored by the National Museum of Iceland where you will be served coffee and cakes and see one of the smallest post offices in Europe.

From the meeting point at the pier you will walk to the heliport of Qaqortoq. Before the helicopter flight starts you will quickly be instructed about onboard safety. From Qaqortoq to Eqaluit Glacier you will fly into the fjords of south Greenland and while passing it is easy to spot the ice floating in the fjords. The helicopter will ground stop in front of the glacier, so it will be possible to see the glacier front from a good perspective. Here it is possible to walk around individually for 20-25 minutes. Afterwards the helicopter will departure with a loop around the glacier from above before heading towards Qaqortoq again.

Eric the Red came to Greenland for the first time in year 982 and returned with 14 ships in year 985. He settled in the settlement, known today as Qassiarsuk. Around year 1300 a church was built in Hvalsø, which is the last place in Greenland, mentioned in the old sagas, a wedding from year 1408 between Thorstein Olafsson and Sigrid Bjørn’s daughter. Hvalsø was an important area in the time of the North Men and has today one of the best-preserved churches in Greenland. On this tour you will meet your captain at the harbor and sail from Qaqortoq towards Hvalsø into the fjord around Qaqortoq. The tour to Hvalsø is approx. 25 min. and at Hvalsø you will have approx. 45 min. to search around the area before you head back. You will have time to look around the old ruins of the farms and the best-preserved church ruins of Hvalsø. If you have time, we recommend you sit down close to the church and just enjoy and imagine the Arctic life back in the 1300 hundred. If you have any questions about the area, please ask your captain and he will answer you best way possible.

Woody Point on the south side of Gros Morne National Park provides easy access (10-minute drive) to the Gros Morne’s Discovery Centre (primary interpretation centre). An additional 10-minute drive will take you to the Tablelands which is the landform that gave the park its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. You will walk on the Tablelands trail looking at its unique physical nature and also looking at the distinctive plants that make this landform home. You will also get a great view of Gros Morne, the mountain the park was named after. A Parks Canada Interpreter will join you at the Tablelands to ensure that you get to hear about this region’s unique geology. The Discovery Centre features exhibits that tell the story of the region’s many geological highlights. After the morning excursion, you will return to the pier in Woody Point and go back on board the yacht for lunch while the yacht repositions to Norris Point. Guides and buses will then reposition to Norris Point on the north side of the park to meet you for the afternoon excursion.

This unique small town was founded in 1857, by six families from Les îles-de-la-Madeleine. For many years, fishing hunting and lumber were the main industries of the village, but today, mining surpasses them all. You will discover the charm and character of the Old Town as you explore the historic landmarks followed by a brief journey along the St-Lawrence River to view the spectacular scenery surrounding Montmorency Falls. You will start your tour at Dufferin Terrace located 200 feet above the waterway. From here you will have a spectacular view of the St. Lawrence River, Île d’Orléans, and the Laurentian Mountains. You will also drive by one of Québec’s most celebrated landmarks, the Château Frontenac. Make a stop in Place-Royale a beautifully restored market square of typical 17th and 18th century stone architecture at the heart of the Lower Town. It is the location of the oldest standing Catholic church in North America, Notre-Dame-des-Victoires. Find National Battlefields Park, also known as the Plains of Abraham, this park was the site of the historic battle where the French surrendered to the British in 1759. Located on the cliffs overlooking the St.-Lawrence River, the Plains of Abraham is now a beautiful 250-acre park with hills, gardens, monuments and artillery artifacts. Cap-Diamant is located in National Battlefield Park, a photo stop opportunity will be made at Cap-Diamant which was named after the shiny stones explorer Jacques-Cartier mistook for diamonds. From here you will have spectacular views of the St Lawrence River, Lower Town, and surrounding countryside. Your route will take you along the Grande-Allée, the Champs-Élysées of Québec lined with quaint shops, sidewalk cafés, and boutiques to the Hôtel du Parlement, an imposing Second Empire-style building overlooking the city. Within minutes of the walled city of Old Quebec are the beautiful pastoral landscapes of Quebec’s countryside. A photo stop will be made at the Montmorency Falls where you will enjoy the breathtaking views and see the powerful forces of nature as the water of the Montmorency River roars down the cliff to eventually meet with the St. Lawrence River.

Among the sites you will see is Place-Royale, a historic square once surrounded by the homes of wealthy merchants. Built and rebuilt several times, the square remains the heart of the Lower Town as well as the home of North America’s oldest standing catholic church, the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires. Around the corner from Place-Royale is the charming pedestrian-only area of Petit-Champlain. Along its narrow cobblestone streets, you will find an array of quaint boutiques, specialty shops and outdoor cafés as well as strolling musicians, jugglers, and street performers. From Lower Town to Upper Town, you will enjoy a short funicular ride to reach the Château Frontenac, perched on a hill overlooking the St.-Lawrence River. The castle-like Château is the best-known landmark in Québec. It was here that Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and William Mackenzie King met to discuss the allied strategy during W.W. II. You will have time to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and sample the delectable pastries. In this 3.5-hour tour, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in their culture and discover a Nation proud of its origin and its know-how. Upon arrival you will be met by a First Nation’s guide dressed in traditional clothing. You will enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of the village. In the longhouse you will become acquainted with the daily life and customs of the Huron people. Continuing to the smokehouse you will learn about the techniques used for meat drying and food preservation methods. In the Sweat Lodge you will learn about the spirituality of the Huron people as well as the techniques and process of purification used by their ancestors. Relax in the comfort of a large war canoe as your guide explains their construction and use. In a large tepee you will learn about the Huron’s lifestyle before the first contact with Europeans as well as their traditional and herbal forms of medicine. Inaugurated in 2008, the Huron-Wendat Museum is an institution created to protect and promote the heritage of the Wendat people. With permanent exhibitions and numerous activities, the Museum carries out its mandate to teach and popularize the history, culture and art of the Wendat people and of others First Nations. During your visit, you will discover artworks of Bourgault (a Wendat artist), ancient manuscripts, and much more. A natural site of rare beauty, the Kabir Kouba Falls plunges into a 138-feet- deep canyon. From 2007 to 2009, archeological digs revealed the vestiges of a flour mill, a saw mill and a paper mill built in the 18th and 19th centuries.
